US grandmother, Linda Maddox, accidentally shoots her seven-year-old grandson

IN a case of mistaken identity an American grandmother has shot and critically wounded her seven-year-old grandson.

Mistaking him for an intruder, 63-year-old Linda Maddox from Tampa, Florida, grabbed a loaded gun from beside her bed and fired one shot at her grandson, wounding him critically reports AP.
Maddox and her twin grandsons were sleeping in her bed, their father having left earlier for work, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.
Afraid of intruders Maddox had placed a chair against the bedroom door handle for extra protection.

The incident apparently left him with horrific facial injuries (right)

At around 1am she heard the chair sliding against the wood floor — and assuming it was an intruder she grabbed her .22-caliber revolver and fired once in the dark at the door.
She reports that seconds later she heard a scream from her grandson, Tyler Maddox, who had been shot in the upper body.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

What a sad, scared life she must usually live - a chair placed against the bedroom door and a loaded firearm beside her head.

Firing in the dark when you know there are 2 others in the same room is sheer stupidity. RIP little one.

Thoughtful of them to pixellate the injured identical twin so his privacy is not infringed.

You wouldn't get that in Thailand.

At least they will be able to tell them apart now if he makes it.

Yep. A case of a mistaken adverb. Sorry about that, little one. Get well soon.
