Animal lover finds several severed cats' heads in bag behind popular restaurant strip


A self-described cat lover has recalled his horror when he discovered severed cats heads in a garbage bag behind a row of restaurants in the UK.

James Robinson made the shocking discovery when he was walking home after grabbing a bite to eat from Manchester's Curry Mile — a famed strip of restaurants that serve foods from the Middle East and South Asia.

The 34-year-old told the Manchester Evening News how he was walking down a side street on Friday evening when he came across a dumped load of rubbish he thought looked suspicious.

"When I opened it I couldn't believe my eyes. There were about five cats heads in there. I can't get over the shock of it," Mr Robinson told the newspaper.

Manchester City Council sent staff to inspect the alleged feline carcases along with members of the RSPCA.

A council spokesperson said they were alerted to the find on Friday, describing it as an "extreme example of animal cruelty".

The council said there was no certainty about where the rubbish came from.

"At this stage we have no way of knowing how these animal parts came to be where they were discovered but we will be contacting the RSPCA as this is clearly an extreme example of animal cruelty," the spokesperson said.

The council is investigating the incident, describing it as the "first of its kind" they had come across.
