Seattle Cop Kills Man Over Not Paying Transit Fare!

The Seattle Police Department said the incident began when three unarmed Metro Transit Fare Enforcement Officers contacted three male passengers to ensure they had paid fares on a southbound Light Rail train at Stadium Station.

One of the men could not provide proof of payment for his fare and all three were asked to exit the train at the Sodo light rail station near 4th Avenue S. and S. Lander, SPD said.

Fare Enforcement Officers requested assistance from a King County Sheriff’s deputy — KCSO provides contract security on buses, light rail lines and other transit in the Seattle Metro area — who arrived and contacted the three men.

One of the three men drew a handgun, and the deputy opened fire, killing him, SPD said.

That’s not how witness Marquez Davis saw it, however. He said that after the man was pulled off the train and the sheriff’s deputy arrived, a scuffle ensued.

“The sheriff reached around the security guard, who had the man up against the glass of the (transit) shelter … and pulled out his gun and shot the man point-blank range three times in the abdomen.”

“Don’t get me wrong, the man was resisting,” Davis said, but added that there were three fare enforcement officers and the sheriff’s deputy against the one man.

The deputy who fired his weapon has been with the sheriff’s office since 2002, and with Metro Transit since 2009.

Following the shooting, the sheriff’s office asked SPD to lead the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.

The shooting drew a large response from law enforcement in the Seattle area and, just before 4:30 p.m., two SPD patrol officers and two other motorists sustained non-life-threatening injuries near 12th Ave and E. Spruce Street after the officers collided with several vehicles while responding to the shooting.

Similar happens on Melbourne trams each year, Jackbooted thugs assaulting fare evaders in a vain attempt to levy a $200 fine for a $2.00 offense, despite numerous studies showing it would be only marginally more expensive to the state to abandon fares altogether and make the system free.

I live in Seattle. This is no scandal. The guy pulled a gun on a cop. That will get you killed in most countries of the world. What a bullshit headline to post. The clip with the black guy talking is also bullshit.

Serious assaults, broken bones, permanent injuries, only a matter of degree.
And all for avoiding a 2 or 3 dollar charge.

ahh but it is 2 or 3 bucks for a large business, and that all adds up. After all, they have been handed tax payer bought and paid for infrastructure for them to reap lots of cash from, and they demand they make maximum profit.....

In this instance there were plenty of bystanders. That happened during rush hour and it is a very, very busy location. If the cops were lying about it then we would have heard by now. I am no fan of the police especially not the ones in my city as they are pretty corrupt and have been under FBI investigation in the past for excessive force but in this instance it looks to be justified.

This must have been the fault of the two other motorists of course. Seattle cops do no wrong, right bsnub?

Seems to me there are legitimate questions to be asked. Let's wait and see before absolving the cops of any blame.

Yes, pseudodo, I'm sure the man was killed for being unable to produce a valid ticket.

It probably means there are two types of merkin, homicidal maniacs and fare dodgers, right?

The cop said he had a gun, so obviously he was lying. Someone else said he had no gun, so obviously he was telling the truth.

That thread you posted was very interesting. I think the copper giving the statements on this is the same guy fronting up about the pimp drug dealing arms specialist you posted about.

They ever going to clean it up or is it part of the plan.

Most likely lucky this lad got nailed - his mate had a 9mil in his bag so perhaps they were off to do some other damage.

seems like a legitimate law enforcement tactic to wean the weapon carrying wankers out of the herds - a bit of harassment and the ones who think they now have bigger dicks because they are carrying a weapon will look to make a show for their homosexual buddies of how tough they are and then the cops just have to shoot the peacocks .

Apparently so. The other lout was packing as well. However, CCTV not released, and most press mention the one in the back pack. Maybe the eye witness, the only one that seems to be speaking, was on the wrong side and did not see the guy pull a gun?

    OP,

Your title is intentionally misleading, or you have misunderstood the initial reports.

We don't know the facts. I suppose we'll find out more of what really happened.

There are (at least) 2 accounts in your OP.

One of the three men drew a handgun, and the deputy opened fire, killing him, SPD said.

That’s not how witness Marquez Davis saw it, however. He said that after the man was pulled off the train and the sheriff’s deputy arrived, a scuffle ensued.
