EU calls Thai military junta to restore democracy, free detainees
    | May 29, 2014
The European Union Thursday issued a statement calling on the Thai military junta for immediate restoration of democracy, free all detainees and remove censorship.
In the statement, EU High Representative Catherine Ashton said, “We are following current developments with extreme concern.

Thailand must urgently restore the legitimate democratic process and the Constitution, through credible and inclusive elections.

We urge the military leadership to free all those who have been detained for political reasons in recent days and to remove censorship.

We call on all parties to exercise the utmost restraint. Respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms must be upheld.

Only an early and credible roadmap for a return to constitutional rule and elections will allow for EU’s continuous support,” the statement said.

    Thailand must .......
who the fuck do they think they are, interfering in others affairs.

Respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms must be upheld.
it is the blanket respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms with no responsibilities demanded of the beneficiaries of those rights and freedoms that is responsible for the fucking mess that european societies find themselves in now.

Sanctions should now logically follow - recall of all EU ambassadors - full arms embargo - visa restrictions - travel restrictions etc.

Then the tinpot dictators will begin to feel the backlash.

    Perhaps they will or not.

Obviously the pain from the shot in the foot isn't recognized.

Remembering that Thailand, historically, has been a darling of the world powers/controllers.....and there has been numerous nasty events and shenanigans that have gone on for decades without such global restrictions and whatnot - usually nothing short of harsh critique and strong tongue lashings from those worldly powers that can make and break [in theory].
And the junta makers, elites, and Thai establishment quite understand this.

These currents events will not guarantee any such "world" actions, as historic precedence has shown this not to be true or consistent.

I guess we will have to wait and see.
