It not just the Thai's who can Shrug off criticism

QANTAS dismisses' worst Tag!

Quote:
QANTAS today dismissed an Australian survey that rates it the worst international airline.
The survey of 4000 subscribers to consumer magazine Choice also found Qantas' domestic service was outshone by all rivals except its low-cost subsidiary Jetstar.
Qantas has cited a larger, international poll as proof its customers are satisfied.
The national carrier would not comment directly today on its poor marks in the Choice survey, preferring to draw attention to better showings in specialist airline polls.
"Qantas has been named one of the world's top airlines in the Skytrax world airline awards for the last two years," a Qantas spokesman said.
"Skytrax surveys more than 13 million travellers each year and Qantas was ranked second in both 2005 and 2006.
"The Qantas Group flies more than 34 million passengers a year and our customer satisfaction ratings have never been higher."
Choice asked its subscribers to rate airlines for value for money, booking processes, convenience, the check-in procedure, in-flight service (including food and entertainment), seat comfort, legroom and cleanliness.
Subscribers voted Singapore Airlines top international airline and small airline Regional Express the favoured domestic operator.
Qantas scored 63 per cent, compared to Singapore Airlines' 78 per cent.
On the domestic front, Qantas fared little better, with a 67 per cent rating. Consumers labelled its service "arrogant and aloof".
Jetstar scored just 62 per cent, with one respondent describing Jetstar staff as "uniformly surly, unhelpful and most definitely unwelcoming".
Regional Express won the survey's top rating of 79 per cent, followed by Virgin Blue with 71 per cent.
"Virgin Blue staff attempt to make what is a reasonably unpleasant experience flying with a no-frills service light-hearted and enjoyable," one respondent said.
One reason Qantas may have fared so poorly in the survey was that people might be more critical of their national carrier, the magazine suggested.
Some travellers said they continued to fly with Qantas to earn frequent flyer points, even though they rated the airline significantly lower than average.
because lets face it - what would the customers know about service? numpties!

I have to say Qantas sucks. The flight attendants I have met (on unfortunate occasions when the BA ticket I bought turned out to be a codeshare with Qantas) tend to be much ruder to asians than whites. And they are quite rude to the whites too.

I agree with the Survey results.

For people who have never heard of Choice Magazine it is a great consumer magazine which prides itself on having no advertising at all and therefore no affilationwith any product.

exactly, they suck as an airline - more expensive than most, rude service (for the most part - i have been lucky once or twice) yet they can shrug off a customer survey as being wrong... WTF?

as i said i thought that was a Thai attitude ! Obviously not!

Most 'European' airlines suck. They're better than Indian ones though.

^ Only if you don't enjoy a good curry.

I had a great flight from Heathrow to Mumbai on a Taj-painted Air India flight. A very old aeroplane, but the waitress was a total hoot. It was a little odd when the passengers began unloading their cabin baggage before landing - a little dangerous, I thought. The landing was fun - we bounced around a little & went sideways for a while, but, what the hell, I had a Hindu priest fellow next to me & a Seikh behind me. What could go wrong?

Welcome to India.

Sorry, you've lost me there. I only had one good curry in all my time in India. I would rate it 5 out of 10.

Indian curry is a little different to the British-Indian adaptation. I enjoyed the local varieties, I must say. The fact that they eat curry with a yoghurt-like side-dish is wise, I thought.

I loved the terms 'weg' & 'non-weg' (veg)...

I have only flown with Qantas once in my life. It was pretty terrible, but even if it weren't, the Australian public would say so anyway.

Qantas should follow Singapore airlines and others in regard to keeping the inflight crew 'fresh'. Let's face it - we all like being served by young pretty girls who enjoy their jobs --- not the fat grumpy arrogant old hags and pooves that serve you on Qantas flights (some of them so fat that they can't fit down the isle without bumping customers!!)

I know there are 'age discrimination' laws that keep these bitter old hags in work, but what about the customer??? - best to give them desk jobs once they start getting old ...... after all, it's about the customer isn't it? ....

But you are presuming that all the customers are male.

Presuming that some of the passengers are Australian women, and all Australian women are fat arses, they probably enjoy being attended by fat hags.

I think the one who could hardly fit down the aisle was on the flight I took with them.

Singapore Airline stewardesses are transferred to ground staff once they hit 30, or, get married.

Cathay Pacific usually have a smorgasbord from the different countries around Asia.

American and European Airlaines just can't compete because of the discrimination laws (it must really piss them off).

They need one of those on every flight - it is mandatory...

... how else can they kick-start the engines if they malfunction?

the various indian airlines also seem to have invented a new word

'de-plane' - meaning to get off the plane.

'Please check you have all your personal belongings before you de-plane'
