An Irishman who went missing for five days from Bondi Junction in Sydney has been found seriously injured in a stairwell.
Donal O'Sullivan was last seen leaving the Tea Gardens Hotel in Bronte Road about 10:30am (AEST) on Saturday.
The 33-year-old failed to return to his home in nearby Allen Parade and concerned relatives reported him missing on Sunday night.
Last night, he was discovered by a caretaker in the stairwell of a commercial building in Bronte Road, near the intersection with Ebley Street.
Paramedics were called and he was taken to St Vincent's Hospital where he remains in a serious condition with head and back injuries.
Police say misadventure may be behind Mr O'Sullivan's injuries but investigations are continuing.
They will speak to him once his condition improves.
Mr O'Sullivan's disappearance sparked a search with about 100 people, mainly friends and members of the Irish community, searching Sydney's eastern suburbs for him.
His housemate, Gavin Fitzgibbon, said he expected Mr O'Sullivan home within half an hour of leaving the hotel on Saturday.
CCTV footage of Mr O'Sullivan from local businesses was released to the public after an appeal by Mr Fitzgibbon.
Facebook group formed to find Irishman
Mr O'Sullivan's brother, Johnnie O'Sullivan, who also lives in Sydney, said he had been searching with family and friends since the weekend.
More than 800 people also joined a Facebook group dedicated to finding Mr O'Sullivan.
"Thank God for a happy outcome for once," wrote Bernie Glynn.
Another supporter, Esther Dixon-Mitchell, wrote: "God bless you speedy recovery thank God."
