Did I really see that the silly moo that got it wrong in the first place is the one tasked with deciding his sentence for murder?

I would assume she'll be as mad as hell at being made to look foolish and will either give him a ridiculously short sentence to piss them off, or a ridiculously long one to try and repair her damaged reputation.

Either way, that would seem open to appeal to me.

Great to see this insane verdict overturned, too bad the case goes back to the stupid bitch that reached such an insane verdict in the first place.

Apparently he can appeal against this new outcome. So all is not over yet.

Despite the costly legal battle so far, the Pistorius camp still have money, Mr Dadic adds.
And they may have grounds for a constitutional appeal, he believes.
He suggested the Pistorius team could argue the high-profile TV coverage of the case influenced witnesses.
But ultimately, the decisive factor may be the sentence Judge Masipa imposes next year.
Mr Dadic added: "I think that will be decisive in whether he tries to appeal again - if he gets a "bearable" sentence (eg 3 years real time)"

He should get the minimum 15 (and IMO, more time).

The judges insistence that the initial judge didn't royally fcuk up on this doesn't bear much scrutiny, given that they have considered precisely no new evidence.

Minimum sentences should be, and usually are reserved for those who plead guilty and express remorse.

^^ They teach lawyers in appellate practice to never say the trial judge screwed up, and to always give the appellate court a way to rule in your favor without making the trial judge look like an idiot. Takes some creative wording.

If the victim had been black this whole thing would never have went to trial. Oscar would have been playing with his guns and running around on his blades today.
The fact that the victims family are white middle class made it impossible for the judiciary to brush it under the carpet.

It wasn't the evidence, but her interpretation of it that was at fault.

Judge Masipa who presided over the trial didn't obtain her law degree until she was 43 following which she was admitted as an advocate in 1991 specialising in civil cases - her earlier career was spent as a social worker and a court reporter. Despite her relative inexperience she was appointed a judge of the Hight Court in 1998.

And that's the problem when one indulges in gestures in preference to competence - a celebrity case playing to the international gallery in a modern, all-inclusive South Africa needed a black judge and she was it.

    Ah well.

^ Affirmative action South African style. She obviously didn't rise to that level because of brilliance, kind of like Clarence Thomas.

Dramatic new evidence emerged today that claims to show Oscar Pistorius attacked his lover with an air rifle and a cricket bat before shooting her dead.

The Paralympian told his trial that he accidentally killed Reeva Steenkamp after mistaking her for an intruder at his home in Pretoria three years ago.

But two experts have now released never-before-seen forensic pictures they claim conclusively proves the athlete murdered the model.

They point to two injuries on the model's back they say match the tip of his cricket bat, while marks on the ripped and blood-covered handle suggest there was a struggle.

It's in the Daily Mail so it must be true. ***

    Must be true,

An Oz report says he walloped Steenkamp with a cricket bat and air pistol as well as shooting her. There were also visible signs in the bathroom and on Steenkamp of a struggle between them, before she was shot dead.

^ How can that possibly suddenly come out as "new evidence" unless the police and prosecutors were totally inept? That he did it makes sense, that would it suddenly emerge now does not.

Hopefully he'll get the sentence he deserves this time.

A glance at Oscar Pistorius’s re-sentencing, now for murder

By Gerald Imray | AP June 12 at 9:54 AM
SOMERSET WEST, South Africa — Oscar Pistorius is going back to jail. The only question now is for how long? It could be 15 years.

The double-amputee Olympic runner’s sentencing hearing opens Monday after he was convicted of murder by South Africa’s Supreme Court of Appeal for shooting girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

It’ll be the second time Pistorius has been sentenced for the killing following an appeal by prosecutors. The three-year legal saga that began with the fatal gunshots in the pre-dawn hours of Valentine’s Day 2013 now appears to be near its end.

Blame Swedish femo-nazi philosophy for that!

They have infiltrated every cultural/racial/ethnic/religious debate on human rights and security ever since Olof Palme was assassinated, and have come up with zilch!

The Swedish human rights brigade are a bunch of femo-natzi lesbians,...my sister in law is one, they have an agendum,...to save the perceived 'victims', identify the perps, and follow the 'human rights' agendum,....which, frankly speaking is a load of bullshit masquerading as care for humanity.

    Get off it!

Amnesty Internatinal's been hi-jacked by every ethnic minority front going!

It's all about propaganda for the biggest power push on the block, rather than anything at all to do do with human rights.

Don't be fooled,...read carefully,.... Islam will use Amnesty as much as they can,....lots!

Yeah. I noted his deep remorse for executing her as she cowered on the bathroom floor.

And eligible to apply for parole in three years.
