Most car accidents involve a drunk and most crimes involve alcohol.

Not sure what alternative reality you live in Terry, but where I come from it is a "disgrace" for Law-enforcement not to follow and support the law

Besides the cultural and quality differences, I believe you have gotten that one wrong, most law-enforcement follow the law and agree with most of it, or they simply wont last long in the Job.

But yes it is quite possible you are right Terry, and that the requirements to understand the background for policies and cause and effect, within Aussie lawenforcement and firefighters is at a relatively low level, maybe they argue that you don't need to know to write a speeding ticket or use a firehose.

Adding to that I have heard from my Aussie mates that police corruption is big in Australia, so rotten and stupid cops are probably more common where you come from.

But their combined workload is more than just dealing with alcohol and drugs, and the ones that do deal with drugs and it's horrible consequences for the addicts and their families, children and their victims, usually hate drugs with a passion.

I do agree that alcohol causes a lot of harm and is the consumption leading "drug" causing problems, which is exactly why we don't need to add more legalised mayhem into the mix.

And no most serious crimes do not involve alcohol - percentage wise compared to number of users and consumption, in prison numbers and time served drug related crime wins the percentage game hands down.

The reason why I deliberately here on TD tease a bit and don't differentiate between marijuana and harder drugs is that the pot leads to abuse of the harder drugs directly, practically every single one of the hardcore drug-addict I have ever met, and I have met many, started out with regular use of lesser drugs like pot, but I have met a lot of alcoholics who have never touched a joint.

And here is some highlighted Aussie stuff just for You since you missed it while working,.... how beats me

DrugFacts: Drugged Driving | National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)

"How Often Does Drugged Driving Cause Accidents?

It is hard to measure the exact contribution of drug intoxication to driving accidents, because blood tests for drugs other than alcohol are inconsistently performed, and many drivers who cause accidents are found to have both drugs and alcohol in their system, making it hard to determine which substance had the greater effect.
    Teens and Drugged Driving

Vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death among young people aged 16 to 19. When teens’ relative lack of driving experience is combined with the use of marijuana or other substances that affect cognitive and motor abilities, the results can be tragic.
Between 2001 and 2006, 14.1 percent of high school seniors responding to the Monitoring the Future survey admitted to driving under the influence of marijuana in the 2 weeks prior to the survey.

One NHTSA study found that in 2009, 18 percent of fatally injured drivers tested positive for at least one illicit, prescription, or over-the-counter drug (an increase from 13 percent in 2005).
    What Drugs Contribute to Accidents?

After alcohol, THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol), the active ingredient in marijuana, is the substance most commonly found in the blood of impaired drivers, fatally injured drivers, and motor vehicle crash victims. Studies in several localities have found that approximately 4 to 14 percent of drivers who sustained injury or died in traffic accidents tested positive for THC.

A study of over 3,000 fatally injured drivers in Australia showed that when THC was present in the blood of the driver, he or she was much more likely to be at fault for the accident. Additionally, the higher the THC concentration, the more likely the driver was to be culpable."

These numbers will increase dramatically country by country if and when pot is legalisedTerry, it is simple drug science and statistics.

Now go "Fuk" yourself with your "utter Fuking shite"

The next Cheech and Chong movie will be in Colorado. The home delivery food industry just got a boost from the state government- stay home, light up, order a pizza, and watch a stoner movie.

I have a feeling that the last states to legalise weed will be the same states that cling to the federally mandated minimum wage, and have 'right to work' (ie union busting) rules. Yep- the red states. The sort of places that scramble to get private prisons built there, to both incarcerate and give shit jobs to the locals. The sort of places where, when theres fracking about, you can set fire to the water- if you have any at all.

    [QUOTE="barbaro"] You made the decision.

if one is not careful then the 'haze' state comes in.

[QUOTE="barbaro"]Could have been alcohol, gambling, or other drugs of things

quite right,,, important issues can end up on the back burner.
positives and negatives operate on another level
lots of experimenting in our generation from 60's onward.

i'm certainly not anti weed but it can end up as a crutch
also agree with terry 57 as alcohol can make one absolutely stupid and dangerous
but using it as a comparison and to say that weed is an acceptable alternative puts one on dodgy ground especially as one gets older.
it is mind altering which will have a flip side.
who's in control ? the weed or the mind ?
    ahh

the world needs more weed and pot smoking, then everyone could chill out instead of being angry all the time

the world would be at peace if world leaders would engage into smoking weeds instead of exchanging words at those world conferences

The only reason a cop even bothers with stoners is because they are sworn to uphold the law.

Besides that, the vast majority would not give a flying fuk about it. They have much other serious issues to deal with.

I'll bet my bottom dollar that the majority of cops are now skinning up on their down time in Colorado.

Its now legal and they can enjoy it just like every other fucker that likes a toke.

Certainly be an alternative to them getting pissed every night to relieve the stress of front line policing.

    like any substance abuse.

Many years ago I had a mate who was a det. sgt. in the Brissie drug squad.
I was round his place one afternoon at a BBQ with a few of them, as the afternoon drew into evening the weed started running low so a couple of them jumped into a D car and popped out and came back with a paper sack full and a couple bottles of jack from the evidence room.
On the way they pulled over a couple of hot blondes for drunk driving and bought them back.
    (actually the girls they knew)

Jesus, what an ignorant load of uninformed shite you spout Larv. Saying that, I'd expect nothing less from a fucking copper. It's frightening that such people - who are so woefully propagandised and so apparently detached from actual reality - are paid to enforce the law.

I could spend ages picking apart your bollocks but I can't really be bothered trying to enlighten someone with such a blinkered outlook. So, as you were, continue to wallow in your shallow pool of wilful ignorance.

Meanwhile, the rest of us can crack on with getting stoned off our tits and having a bloody good time.

    Wot he said innit.

Fuk me. Larv boy recons the world is going to explode because some people like to smoke the wacky. ???

Let the truth be known that the vast majority of cops are exactly the same as all of us.

Some like the weed, some like to get pissed up and some are just out and out Wankers.

Friggin Larv would of been a fun Cop EH. The sort that would revel in giving out a speeding ticket to a fuker that was 2 KLM over the speeding limit.

    Fuk me EH.

Anyway, I know shit loads of cops and can tell by Larvs posts that he was not the good guy.

    Fuking attitude like his sucks.

No wonder he only done 20 years.

No Terry, that crap from your blurter is just beneath an answer, I would never presume to rate you as a Fireman or your expertise and courage in fire-fighting, and it would be nice if you got over yourself and extended me the same courtesy.

I can accept you lot have an other opinion, so be it, but I have mine from hands on work in 20 years, and I never have rolled over for anyone and I sure am not going to start now Mate.
