Python swallows family dog chained inside its kennel

A pet dog chained inside a kennel has been swallowed by a large python at Lismore in northern New South Wales.

The owner of the chihuahua-maltese dog discovered the carpet python inside the kennel with a large bulge in its body.

The dog's chain was still hanging from the snake's mouth.

A volunteer from the Wildlife Information Rescue and Education Service took the two-and-a-half metre snake to a vet to see if the python would regurgitate the chain.

The snake is still under observation and it may need surgery.

The dog meanwhile, is pretty well fooked....

So now some unsuspecting soul has a pet python.

I don't believe pythons are quite so good at "fetch".

Small dogs like that don't need to be kept outside, they are too defenseless.

My auntie watched an owl snatch her chihuahua from the backyard. She followed the dogs yaps for a while, then nothing. That's nature.

Exactly who the fuck does this? They can not keep warm enough outside this time of year. This is a case of animal neglect.

    Poor little guy.

I fucking hate pythons that swallow family dogs chained inside their kennels.

    They've officially made 'the list'.

Rather horrific for the pet owner, where did the python come from, an escaped pet?

The presence of a python was another climate clue!

They generally grab the victims head in their jaws and then wrap themselves around the torso. Each time the victim breathes out they wrap a bit tighter.

To make your poodle python-proof simply thread it's hind quarters through a 12 inch section of 6 inch diameter drainage pipe until it is wearing the pipe section like a piece of body armour!

no, pythons are all around the place there.
a mate lives around that area and pythons are always having a go at his chickens,
has to have them well fenced in at night.
