Yes, that'll be why it was it was a big long list of government property which was specified. Damage to chairs, light-switches, shoelaces, bits of concrete, paperclips, government-owned bellybutton fluff - it's bread and water for damaging any of them, isn't it, shit-for-brains? Actually, though, crimes against the flag are not so much lese majeste as blasphemy (or, in the theocracy which rules this particular God-awful backwater, some hellish, bastard offspring of the two) so that is possibly a mistake in my post.
So you feel that deliberately damaging a chair etc in a US would go unpunished?
The US prison system allows its jails to be vandalised ?
I dont think so
Also the prisoner will still be in jail for his original crimes , he just gets certain privileges taken away for bad behavior ?
English is clearly not your first language so a simple question for you:
Do you think "any defacement or vandalism of the flags by inmates comes with the penalty of bread and water" means
a. "any defacement or vandalism of the flags by inmates comes with the penalty of bread and water'
or
b. "any defacement or vandalism of the chairs by inmates comes with the penalty of bread and water"?
For extra points, does it seem likely that, even in the fascist theocracy of Arizona, drawing a picture of a cock on a prison chair would get you sent to a 'Patriotic Prison'? (Though I must admit that, not being an American, I can't be sure how far down the path to pure nutbaggery that poor benighted country has gone, so perhaps prison chairs, along with the flag, share in this weird eucharist of the divine made manifest - perhaps the holy body of the American state can be found beneath the stinking, sweaty, shit-stained arse of the Arizona pig.)
Just because something isnt mentioned doesnt mean that it isnt included.
For example : Driving a car wrecklessly will get you sent to jail* , but it isnt ONLY driving cars wrecklessly that will get you sent to jail, there are other crimes what will, but they just arent mentioned in this instance
Nonsense, unpaid labor was abolished decades ago, they have to get paid for labor now that's one reason they don't do nearly as much community service, you can thank those bleeding heart liberal lawyers like the ACLU for that one..
Also to answer the poster above, once a prisoner is taken custody by the state and convicted of a crime they become ward of the state and are therefore required to be treated with human rights which means food and proper medical care.
isn't this the same guy who had 'proof' that president obama's birth certificate was fake?Maricopa County, Arizona, Sheriff Joe Arpaio
what a dope.
The people of this county who elect him again and again are scary. Where does this hate of petty offenders and immigrants come from?
Just because it doesn't say what you think, doesn't mean you have to feel restrained in what you claim. Indeed not. Let your imagination run wild. Fucking knock yourself out. On a related note, I sincerely hope no more of your priceless insights into the human condition are deleted by thoughtless mods.
And besides, wreckless driving is to be commended.
Well answer this question : Is vandalism tolerated in U.S. jails ?
Are U.S citizens jailed for defacing the U.S. flag ?
Anyway , a Political prisoner is a person who has been jailed for opposing the Government , A Political prisoner isnt a person who gets privileges taken away from them whilst in jail for destruction of Government property .
Sheriff Arpaio is the government, and he can create outlandish rules in his camp as he sees fit. He does it to please his voters. That makes all his inmates political prisoners. Vandalism my ass. If he doesn't like a fat guy he orders him to sit on a plastic chair for kids, and gets the damage to property he needs.
Boon Mee: 'Israel is the 51st State. De facto - but none the less, essentially part & parcel of the USA.'
Every prison in the World is run on those rules , the Government making the rules and the prisoners must comply with those rules .
Unless they were jailed for opposing the Government, then they are not Political prisoners.
Putin in Russia puts people in prison for opposing him, look at Russia to see Political priosners
No dear, we don't do this in Germany. Lock away anybody, and treat them inhumanely to win elections.
The US is somewhat unique in that it allows local election of law enforcement and judiciary. This gives local communities a strong say in what and how laws are enforced.
The sheriff doesn't win elections by being inhumane, he gets re-elected because he addresses the demands and expectations of his county.
The USA doesnt lock away anybody either, they have to be convicted of a crime first.
German people elects its leaders and those leaders appoint people to run the prisons , so German people do not have a direct say on who Governs the prisons .
The U.S. people have a choice on who runs the prisons , if they want a Governor to give prisoners a luxurious lifestyle, then they will elect one .
Those aren't two different things. The sheriff doesn't win elections by being inhumane, he gets re-elected because he addresses the demands and expectations of his county.
Fluke, you fail to see that it is a political issue when the laws are tightened to the point that a mere misdemeanor is punishable by detention. And they don't have to be convicted of a crime, a baseless accusation does the job. If you happen to ride in the lift of a building in the US with a female, and she runs out the door screaming and claiming you raped her, you'll leave the building handcuffed and find yourself jailed. You also don't realize that is worse and more of a political issue when minor officials like Arpaio can abuse powers and restrict freedom like Putin.
No, you dont get jailed in the USA if someone makes an allegation .
If someone makes a rape allegation, the Police will investigate and decide whether there is a case to answer .
If there is a case to answer and they decide to prosecute , then the accused will then go to Court and they will decide whether there is a risk that the accused my abscond or that he is a danger to the public and then he may get remanded in jail until his trial or if they dont feel that he is a risk, the will then be allowed out until the trial .
If you feel that there is a better way of doing things, please state them
