Four year old shoots dad, Iraq War Veteran, dead

The boy was taken to a police substation to undergo interviews, and did not appear to realize what he did, MyFoxPhoenix.com reported. The boy is now with his mother.

"At this point there is no indication of any foul play," Prescott Valley Police spokesperson Brandon Bonney told MyFoxPhoenix.com.

Thomas was an Iraq War veteran with the Army Special Forces and leaves behind two children, the news station reported.

Jesus, I feel sorry for the kid when he gets old enough to realise what happened. Real tragic stuff, just another day in the US of A though I suppose...

Who in their right mind leaves a loaded gun somewhere a child can simply pick it uop and shoot someone with it ? FFS I'm all for letting people have guns but surely that must come with a bit of common sense ?

It's just another example showing that the US general public are not responsible enough to freely own guns.

Tighter gun control is desperately needed.

Common sense would suggest to remove guns from the equation, completely.

It seems that such killings are frequent in the US.

I have read nothing to suggest that gun owners are required to keep their weapons in a gun safe as they are in some other countries. It seems that some people like to keep a loaded gun on their coffee table in case a tyrannical government official knocks on the door. If the risk of attack in the home is as great as some Americans believe, then the country has problems that are more serious than irresponsible gun care.

Curious. Guns make quite a large bang noise. One would have thought the kid would recall firing a gun. Maybe he is on medication

It's not saying the kid doesn't recall firing the gun, what it's saying is the kid doesn't appear to realise what he did. Ergo the consequences of firing the gun, which in this case was the death of his father.

Maybe the kid had recently converted to Islam?

would be interesting to know, where the bullet hit... a gun is fairly heavy... and pulling the trigger also not the easiest thing... with four one has quite small hands and short fingers... he must have powder from the gunshot an his tiny fingers... but also then... the friend can have "showed" him the gun, bla bla bang...
