SINGAPORE : Officers from the Police and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) have arrested five women suspected of operating a vice den at a forested area in Upper Thomson.
They were said to be providing sexual services and soliciting for clients at the nearby industrial estates, constructions sites, as well as housing estate.
The women, Thai nationals aged between 19 and 44 years old, were arrested following a raid at the site early Friday morning.
Four of them were found to be immigration offenders.
The fifth had a valid social visit pass.
At the time of the raid, four men, also Thai nationals, were present.
They had valid work permits and were released after verification of their status in Singapore.
The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has been notified for the destruction of the makeshift shelter in the forest.
ICA said it took a serious view of attempts by foreigners to overstay or enter Singapore illegally.
Offenders can be jailed up to six months and given a minimum of three strokes of the cane. - CNA/ms
