You dipshits can cry all you want but this is about schools that are doing real things and publishing papers. BTW the UW is no state school that is left for the corn pushers on the otherside of the mountains..

Looks like a list based upon donations. What is it? Freaking Uni Lists week? this is the 4th this week or something and all of them are different and all of them are made up.

It's a measure of how much a university publishes, where they publish and who cites them. It means more than nothing, but less than a lot. But going (or not going) to a university which appears in the top 10 (or top 10,000) means absolutely nothing at all.

I don't understand the "mine's better than yours" crap. I went to a state university. It was all I could afford on the GI Bill and working nights and weekends. I never even stuck around for graduation. The BA got me a good job, and that's all it was intended to do. Snub: Did you even go there, or are you just all puffed up because it's in the same area in which you live?

^ Exactly. If you're one of the people churning out papers and keeping the university high in the league, well, maybe you can justifiably feel proud of your accomplishments but if you just did some mediocre first degree there then it has absolutely nothing to do with you.

It's kind of like people who go barking mad over some professional sports team just because it's from the city in which they live. Professional, highly paid athletes who give not a single fuck about the braying donkeys in the standa.

The UW is a linchpin and always has been. The Seattle area has the highest concentration of billionaires in the world and they have been very generous to the schools in their backyard. Hate all you want you clueless bastards.
