    US DHS overarmed?

Homeland Security uses more ammo than the US Army
    Sat Apr 27, 2013 12:17PM

In a time when members of the American government are working tirelessly to enforce changes to gun control laws, the last thing they need is a government agency adding fuel to an already heated fire.

However, according to an article published by Fox News on April 25, that's exactly what the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has done.

Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz claims the DHS is currently using 1,000 more rounds of ammunition per person than the U.S. Army.

Chaffetz was quoted as saying; “It is entirely ... inexplicable why the Department of Homeland Security needs so much ammunition.”

In a hearing on Thursday, Chaffetz claimed that the DHS had more than 260 million rounds of ammunition in stock, and he added that the 70,000 DHS agents used 116 million rounds in 2012.

There are a lot of conspiracy theories about why the DHS is really buying so much ammunition, but Fox News reports that Department of Homeland Security claims to need the ammunition for agents in training and on duty, and that they buy in bulk to save money. Examiner

    FACTS & FIGURES
The purchase of ammunition in such massive numbers by the DHS has stoked fears that the federal government could be preparing to use force against the American people.

The trigger for this could be an economic collapse that causes angry Americans to flood the streets similar to scenes witnessed across Europe over the last two years. Prison Planet

The Social Security Administration has also recently purchased a large quantity of hollow point bullets, potentially signaling that authorities fear welfare riots could occur if benefit payments cannot be made.

A recently leaked U.S. Army Military Police training manual for “Civil Disturbance Operations” outlines how military assets are to be used domestically to quell riots, confiscate firearms and even kill Americans on U.S. soil during mass civil unrest. Prison Planet

    Where's it gonna end?

Drones, DHS, government transparent as mud, massive national debt....prison America,

May be a police issue rather than DHS but There was a clip on Bill Maher's program, that demonstrated the overuse of ammunition when the suspect in the boat was trapped. He was nailed with a torrent of bullets.

Didn't the cops find only ONE gun between the two perps of the Boston bombing?

The more you have the more you want.

I wonder what part of the U.S. Constitution was amended to allow for a Homeland Security Force? It used to rely on a National Guard," as I recall.

With every citizen holding abundant numbers of personal firearms, bullets and unmentionable other types of arms in general I would think that the Homeland Security Forces are simply "outgunned."

Definitely out thought. "You can never have to many guns."

Homeland Security took over the Department of Immigration and Naturalization, so are in charge of border security.

When the US gets serious about border security, they will be using that ammunition to shoot wetbacks crossing the Rio Grande.

(Or maybe they won't, the Tea Party just wishes they would.)

Policing [in general] and law enforcement in the States has long become para-militaristic - very much reflective of what is a "policing state".

    The enemies are them.
    The enemies are us.

Just so there are enough to go around.

    National Security State.

This clip is right on this topic. How can you deny the bs going on with American law enforcement.

I wonder if the military industrial complex sees its foreign war days ending. Now it wants to get the government to waste loads of money right in the US.

Just the flipside of no gun ban. Cops don't want to die, so they have to outgun the bad guys. What did they say in the clip, German police fired 89 bullets in 2011, 49 of them warning shots? That's about one bullet per million population.

They'd save a lot of bullets if they learnt how to shoot.
