The US wins the wars that matter.
WW2 and the cold war. (Veitnam was a proxy war with the Soviets and the US got them back in Afghanistan in the 80's)
And if it wasn't for the US military, South Korea would not exist.
Is Saddam Hussain still in power or not ?
What about the Taliban in Afghanistan ?
Britain has been sending women to war since time began. Women were powder monkeys on-board ships during Nelson's times. Not that I'm saying it's right.Originally Posted by Koojo

This isn't over yet.
What I'd like to know will women make up the whole combat unit, or will it be based on combining men and women. If it's a combat unit, staffed solely by women then the battle is lost. Now a unit of 'Tomboys' is a different matter.
It's all women, but what they do is before they're sent into combat they get a man to tread his muddy boots all through the trench, throw his kit on the floor, use the last bit of toilet roll without replacing it and piss all over the seat of the latrine. Drives them into such a high pitched frenzy that even Ghurkas fear to face them.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"
Jeese - Private First Class Socal is on the rampage again. 10 yrs playing X Box in his mums basement and suddenly he is an authority on the military.
Women make great soldiers and not all of them are emotional dribbling wrecks.
^ to be fair, i doubt many male soldiers could do that unless they were trying for a hard boiled and cocked that up.
You know exactly fuck all about the workings of a military
You know fuck all about the demands on a soldier
You know fuck all about the diffrences between men and women.
But you think you know better then then the most advanced and most sophisticated military in history.
Ah ha - so Socal was a SEAL / US Marine when he bumps into someone in a ladyboy bar in Pattaya then?
Well "But you think you know better then then the most advanced and most sophisticated military in history"
I guess you are talking about the US army who have decided that you are wrong, and women can go to the front line - so you think you know better then?
Question for you Socal - Did you go to Iraq or Afghanistan? Did ya? I didn't but I assume you did.
Is this another subject when your prejudices and ignorance will be on display for all?

Ahhh all the blowhards seem to forget that women have been on the front line in the US for a long time.
So on patrol in Afghanstan - if the Taliban make an attack do you think she is told to run to the back, darn some socks, cook some lunch whilst the men take on the contact. OR, does she use her weapon system and get stuck in?
I think back to my first recon patrol in Vietnam. 100 degree heat - 100 percent humidity. 65 lb rucksack, plus prc-25 radio and extra batteries, plus weapon, ammo, tons of water and a good dose of fear. Climbing up a riverbed over huge rocks, almost straight up in some places. Drinking gallons of foul-tasting water, but still never pissing until it cooled down in the evening. So foul smelling after the first few days monkeys would fall out of the trees when you passed beneath them. After the second day, a living hell of having to switch off helping to carry a 200 lb trooper who had broken his leg until we finally got to an extraction point. I was a rock solid 19 year old, just out of para school, and I passed out twice the first day from the heat and strain - I mean out - just pitched forward on my face. Can women do this? Maybe a few....if so, have fun. For that matter few mall baby fat-ass American men could do it - but we keep finding enough who can to continue our adventures (stay tuned for Africa). I personally think it's ok to open up most jobs to women. As far as the rest, if we don't dumb down the physical requirements, very few women will qualify. If they can qualify at the same level as their male counterparts, have at it - but be warned, about 90% is dirty, stinking, nasty hard work - the other 10% is fear. Go girl!
I hope the push-up test is being made harder for women. With their pendulous mammaries they don't have to bend their elbows so much to touch the floor with their chests so the rep count should be double.Originally Posted by FailSafe

That is the key isnt it. Currently the PT standards for women are very low in the US Army. They do push ups on their knees right now and do not have to do pull ups so they have it pretty soft. The PT standards must be the same as men.Originally Posted by Davis Knowlton
There are some jobs women just cant do. I used to work in the freezer of a big grocery warehouse and there was never a women that even tried to work that job. Also there are no female crab fishermen in the Bering Sea of Alaska either. Plenty of jobs that are just to tough for women..
If they dumb down the pass bar for them to get into front line positions then that is totally wrong; not lest because their peers will not trust them. If they want it, the women need to do the same tests and achieve the same results as the men. That's just common sense.
