Walk A Mile In Her Shoes Toronto: 4th Annual March To End Violence Against Women

If heels were made for walking, you might as well use them for a good cause.

On Sept. 27, at least 1,000 men took part in the annual "Walk A Mile In Her Shoes" march, bringing awareness to ending violence against women and girls.

Based on the idea that, “You can’t really understand another person’s experience until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes,” organizers of Canada's White Ribbon Campaign, a now-global organization helping end violence against women, have arranged the event for four years.

"Walk a Mile in Her Shoes' isn't simply a stunt — it's a statement about men's role in ending violence against women; an issue that is connected to strict gender roles and expectations of men. By wearing heels and acting in solidarity with women, we want to show that we'll do whatever it takes to make this a safer world for everyone," reads a statement on the White Ribbon Campaign's site.

Can't argue against the cause and it shows a good heartedness sort of humour! Good on them.

    Oh my God.
There were hundreds of guys walking down the street wearing high heels.
I think I'll stop beating women now.

    Pussywhipped dickheads.
How on earth is that going to have any effect on billybob coming home drunk and slapping his missus around.
Reminds me of that ridiculous group in Brisban e in the 80s 'Women against rape in war'
As if anyone except people who rape in war isn't agains rape in war and those that are doing the raping in war are going to think, wait a minute that group of wymen say this is wrong, I better not.

Yeah they should do the manly thing and condone violence against women, or at least laugh about it with their mates over beers whilst watching sports.

It obviously stirred some debate amongst the eloquent (bring back the good old days, pre dark ages) brigade. Anything that can shed light and shame on the bully boys of this world the better,. Also shows women who suffer from abusive relationships that their is another type of man.

And Kmart, yes Canadian women often wear boots. Usually to bed

    But ultimately achieves absolutely nothing.
The Bully boys that beat women aren't going to be shamed by this ridiculous display.
They WILL laugh at it though.

You couldn't possibly know what it will or won't achieve... Unless you're talking as a, or on behalf of, woman-beating bully boys.

Anyways, regardless, it's got you thinking about violence against women hasn't it. Who knows, maybe next time your reaction won't be to automatically cast derogatory labels at others who are trying to raise awareness of the issue. Maybe not. But it would be a positive wouldn't it.

Her shoes are far too small, but the sexy stilettos would make the neighbouring women crazy for me, I'm sure...They like broad, muscular shoulders and an athlete's butt enhanced by heels, don't they?...

Hey, it's for a good cause...and a lot of people are talking about it...

the whole thing "walk in her shoes" - to not beat her anymore...

what is that supposed to tell?

its stupid little bitches on uncomfortable shoes, so dont beat them...?
do you have to have "understanding" for someone, to not beat them?
isnt it more the "understanding" for themselves, to refrain from beating...?

Until theyve had a few beers in them and the jekkyl and hyde switch is flicked.

This campaign should have been done in nike running shoes and by women, to show some of these daft women who keep going back to their abusers, that there is a way out and alternatives to staying with your wanker of a partner solely to keep your family intact.

This campaign is purely an invite for people like The Gent to show off their size 9 laced up knee high boots in public IMO
