Britain's BBC has apologised for revealing a private conversation between Queen Elizabeth II and its security correspondent about radical cleric Abu Hamza.
The European Court of Human Rights this week approved the extradition of Hamza and four other terrorism suspects wanted in the US.
It was an eight-year battle for the UK government and apparently the Queen was also frustrated.
Correspondent Frank Gardner broadcast details of the conversation he had with the Queen, during which she supposedly told him she had complained to the previous government about the cleric.
The Queen was said to be upset that Britain had not arrested Hamza after he preached fiery anti-Western sermons outside a mosque in London after the September 11 , 2001 attacks in the US.
The Queen never gets involved in political issues and insights into her personal views are rare.
Gardner and the BBC have apologised to the Queen for the revelation, saying they are embarrassed by the breach of confidence.
