    NZ : Police called as Thai barter gets ugly

    Police called as Thai barter gets ugly
    12 Sep 2012

    Two Thai shoppers were arrested after refusing to leave a pharmacy because staff wouldn’t let them return $430 worth of goods.
    |
    The tourists bought the items – hand creams and soaps – on Sunday afternoon and then took them back a few hours later. They said they wouldn’t fit in their suitcases.

    “Pharmacy staff were quite accommodating and said they would take back some of the larger items,” sergeant Steve Watt says.

    “But they wanted to barter and things got quite ugly. They became abusive towards staff and refused to leave.”

    Four police officers eventually arrested the couple, a 50-year-old man and 35-year-old woman at 9.30pm,
    removed them from the store and charged them with trespassing.

    “They understood enough English to negotiate. We even showed them a pair of handcuffs but they wouldn’t listen to reason.”

    Just to top up on that ;

    "They were shown a pair of handcuffs, refused to leave and subsequently were asked to leave again."
    A language difficulty may have been a factor, although the pair had understood well enough to outline their problems regarding potential refunds, he said.
    The couple will appear in the Queenstown District Court in two weeks.

    I guess they missed their return flight back to Bangkok then....

    What a bunch of azzholes. Probably of Chinese descent.

    Assholes like that should stay home. They were obviously loaded to spend that amount on creams and soaps.
