Prostitute wins right to work from motel
A fly-in fly-out prostitute has won the right to work from a central Queensland motel, even though the owners want her kicked out.
The Civil and Administrative Tribunal has found the owners of Moranbah's Drovers Rest Motel contravened the Anti-Discrimination Act by banning the prostitute from using the premises when they realised she was bringing clients back to her room.
The Gold Coast-based woman - known as GK in the judgement - is now seeking thousands of dollars in compensation after successfully appealing the decision that stopped her from using the coalfields motel as a base for her sex work.
Accommodation Association of Australia CEO Richard Munro says the decision has major ramifications.
"We see the main point here [as] being that the responsibility of who stays or in fact doesn't stay at a property should rest with the manager, the owner of a property," he said.
"Our main concern is if someone's running a business and other guests make complaints they should have the ability to act upon that.
"And we believe that that decision should ultimately rest with the proprietor or licensee or manager of those premises.

I thought they would have grounds for banning based on her using the room as a place of business rather than private accommodation. Nevermind about offending other guests.
