Tigers kill man who scaled zoo enclosure

A man was killed by tigers at a Danish zoo on Wednesday after he scaled a fence and crossed a moat to get into their enclosure.

The man, in his early 20s, was savaged by three tigers after he broke into Copenhagen Zoo in the early hours of the morning. He was dead when staff arrived for work.

"We received an emergency call at about 7:30am that a person had been found lying in the tiger pen and that three tigers were surrounding that person," said police superintendent Lars Borg.

"The tigers attacked him and killed him. It is likely that a bite to the throat was the primary reason for his death."

Police said the man, who had not yet been identified, may have entered the enclosure as a way of committing suicide.

Fair play if this is the case... Probably more likely that he was mentally ill.

This man was obviously armed with a piece of fresh fruit and got what he deserved.

They said he was not Danish but his nationality was not yet known
When did Only The Brave last post on his emotionally charged flounce thread?

He had just lost a wedge on Murray and watched his hero break down in tears on live TV.

Could this be him and the tiger enclosure be his dramatic final curtain call ???... I am worried for his safety.

The guy was all night inside the closed Zoo roaming about, the police say they don't know yet what he was doing in there all those hours, they are still waiting for toxicology reports to determine if he was drugged up or drunk, he had Danish citizenship but was from Afghanistan maybe he just picked the wrong "good-time" enclosure that night.

I like the way the Danish are calling him Afghani now, a bit like that British guy who lost at Wimbledon

WTF I am not sure what you are on about kwang, and I think you don't know yourself, no mystery here except why he broke (climbed a fence) into the closed Zoo, what he was doing in there all night, and why the guy made the huge effort and scaled another small fence lowered himself, fell or jumped several meters down and swam a wide deep moat to get into the Tigers.

No one has anything to hide here, so there is no agendas, there is no mistakes or embarrassment for authorities, and no one is in trouble certainly not the Zoo, the Tiger enclosure is huge very nice and made like a natural habitat. So the Press reporting when and on what is released by Police about the guy, is just normal procedure in such a strange behavior case.

I don't know what you are drinking Tiger beer perhaps? while watching reruns of Serena bobbing about on the grass, but conjuring up any kind of connection from death by tigers in a Danish Zoo to the British and tennis "Jocks" must come from some seriously confused mist in your brain because those things could not be much further apart.

Haha, I was just trying to draw a comparison with loopers post. Another example would be the drug cheat Ben Johnson,
''Canadian superstar wins gold and shatters world record"' were the headlines in one Canadian tabloid
    Then the next day
''African immigrant in drug cheat scandal"'

Oh, you were nearly right with the beer-- Leo :-)

What a way to kill yourself, and that's a few I've heard of in the last few years now, jumping into animal enclosures

I think I'd rather jump in with tigers than those chimps though, it would be a quick death from a tiger from the back I reckon

Must be well fed tigers if he is still there. Those Danes know how to keep their animals happy. He was noticed "roaming around" a locked zoo and nobody thought to go and see he didn't get up to anything with the baby llamas?

^ At least he wasn't dragged 3Km before they killed him.

They should send the magical monk from Kan'buri to talk those tigers into behaving. That I'd pay to see.

    Mentally ill or a suicide.

Regardless, I can think of a lot of better ways to go.

Peacefully expiring at a grand old age in a pastel-coloured room surrounded by loved ones would be better. However, if suicide-by-dangerous-animal is your preferred mode of kicking the bucket, then the Tiger is a good choice as it is a very skilled and powerful killer, probably administering death in mere seconds.
The guy is probably lucky that he didn't stumble into the alligator pen. Or smear himself in raspberry jam and stake himself out over at the ant farm, e.g.

The Hyena enclosure would be the worst to try and get a nights sleep , they start feasting from the rump steak.
