    Vietnam first visit report

    Hi

Partly inspired by some of the TR`s here I decided to spend a few days, 9 in Vietnam.

    First ever visit.

I went to HCMC + 2 days in Vung Tau.

Flew with Air Asia BKK( DM) to HCMC.

    I stayed at Liberty Saigon Greenview Hotel ( Liberty 3) District 1, was between US $ 35 - $39 a night.

Happy with the hotel, there was some loud construction noise nearby, asked to change rooms and they sorted me another room.
    Good service IMO.

Traffic a bit manic at times but generally thought their riding/driving was OK.

View from balcony, busy junction here

    The park opposite was pleasant

    The beer went down well

Overall really enjoyed the visit, will try add more later

I liked the tree lined roads and just strolling in the park nearby, a very nice change from Pattaya where I spend most of my time.

I took along my Thai GF, we`ve been to Vientiane and Phnom Penh together before, I liked both of them, she seemed to really enjoy HCMC more.

They all have good baguettes and decent beer so that`s almost enough for me.

    Street shot very near hotel

Yes, struck me the same, could not have been more helpful, both the staff at the HCMC hotel and also later in Vung Tau.

I had a little difficulty with the internet at Liberty 3, mentioned it and they said they`d come up to room to resolve the problem, straight away.

They made sure taxi drivers knew where we wanted to go, gently warned my GF about wearing her handbag on her side, advising her to have it in front of her instead.

People there seemed to genuinely want to help.

Impressed with Vietnam and will return, probably try and get Hoi An and Halong Bay included next time.

Nice pics , i stayed at that very same hotel ( i knew instantly from the view) l then drove to VT ,
originally intended 1 week but hid out in VT for 3 weeks just lazing about in the condo, eating at Belly's and spending my millions at the pirate bar !.

We then dumped the bike i bought in HCMC and took the ferry boat from VC to HCMC which was alot better (and faster) than the drive there,

We then had paella valenciana at The
Pacharan 97 Hai Ba Trung Street, Dist.1, | Dong Khoi Area.

Stayed in a nice little boutique hotel in a quieter area and had a tour around that hell of a busy market.
will not put up wiv the "Nanny state" so don't push it on me.

Don't want to hijack roamer's thread. I don't have a lot, most of the film I shot in the bush was water or humidity ruined, or stolen in the mail. That was the good stuff. Those that remain are mostly just us kids, standing around on firebases or in jungle clearing, holding a variety of weapons and trying to look tough.

Good thread roamer.i wanted to check out halong bay but the typhoon came in so had to give it a miss, i can highly recommend hoi an though, decent beach and an interesting little town, im toying with the idea of flying with vietnam airlines from vientiane to Vinh ( new route) they are having a promo at the moment $138 return, ive heard the beach is good there to,(Cua Lo) went through vinh years ago but it wasnt much of a place, vietnam ticks all the boxes for me, good food, beer, beaches and the girls are easy on the eye

Nice pics, OP. Always wanted to go to Vietnam, but haven't got there yet.
