| Well, it sounds a bit more interesting than my own visa run down to the Malaysian glamour spot that is Pedang Besar station. They still haven't cleaned the bogs from the last time I was there (about a year ago) and the trains are still those shitty leftovers from the Korean war, or whatever they are that the Thai state railway company passes off as passenger compartments. The food on the train's not bad, though. And a big plate of grub with (large) beer won't set you back $30. More like 200 baht. I do like sleeping on trains. I tend to dream incredibly vividly. Once I actually had a nightmare and woke the whole carriage up with my screams. Someone calmed me down. Last night I dreamt that I was unable to move (those beds are not that big) and remember calling out for someone to help me get up. Not sure if that was real or in my dream. I didn't get any funny looks, so perhaps I was just dreaming it. I would post some photos of the trip if: a. there was actually anything worth taking a photo of, and b. if there was a way to get photos onto this computer in a shopping centre in Hat Yai, which there isn't. Anyway, I don't want to hijack MTD's Hanoi live report. Bit disappointed with the lack of totty photos, though. I thought Vietnamese chicks were hot.

I had a qui... err.. an egg flan at the Little Hanoi cafe, with another Viet coffee. It was not bad, but a bit bit. Could've done with a side salad and half the amount of flan. Nice place though. ![]() ![]() I had a Vietnamese foot massage today. The girl was very petite and very cute. The massage was excellent too, but I was too shy to ask her if I could take her picture for some of my mates too drool over. Out of order, I know, so I apologise. Got a piccie of St Joseph's Church which is situated next door. ![]()

| OK, I'm off to see if I can locate any of their local black beer and I think I saw some small bottles of local wine. Could be a winning combination... I have booked a driver for tomorrow, so I will do all the tourist attractions that you're all waiting to see. |

| The exchange rate is just under 16,000Dong to the Dollar, but most places use 15,000. I've just bought a big painting for the house. Most places seem to want around $500 for a picture just over 1m sq, but I found a more realistic place selling them for $150. The lacquer ware is pretty good too, but not my thing. BTW, I was back at the hotel at about 10.45 last night. I was feeling bloated from drinking shite beer. OK, time to find some drink. |

| Ok - I'm a bit sozzled, but here is tonight's update. I wen to a few bars to sample the various brews. The first place was 3 doors down from my hotel and is called the Red Beer. ![]() ![]() The beer was not too bad actually. Its supposed to be Belgian, but if this is true, then English ales really are the best in the world. ![]() |
