One reason I quit reading the IHT several years ago -- it just turned so bladdy leftie, even the news stories were slanted. Really POed me as when I trained it to BKK, it had been a great pleasure to read the IHT over morning coffee at the station.

I think it's bias. Unfortunately for BO, it doesn't always turn out to be good -- even if the coverage is generally positive.

In the US, I reckon you and others are subjected to a barrage of this nonsense. The media is guilty of trying to manufacture rather than report the news. Clearly they have way too much time to fill with their 24/7 coverage.

| Senior Member | Well, there's hope. Two of the worst are out! MSNBC is removing Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews as the anchors of live political events, bowing to growing criticism that they are too opinionated to be seen as neutral in the heat of the presidential campaign. MSNBC Drops Olbermann, Matthews as News Anchors

| ^ Well, they put Rachel Maddows in and she is worse than Olbermann, IMO. But, I agree than Olbermann is a pompous turd. Matthews is just another wet towel. |

| the right always dig up this old chestnut about a media bias to motivate the base....and those who are able to remember back to previous bush campaigns in '92 and '04 realize this is simply theater. case in point.... a reporter asked mccain about the connection between his campaign manager rick davis and fannie mae and freddie mac--and mccain responded that davis was no longer involved with the mortgage giants and that... Quote:
so when presented with this information ---that mccain himself essentially instigated---the mccain campaign attacked the NYT. Quote:

| Senior Member | Media tries to will the US into the age of Obamalot. "A free society cannot run this way. If information is power, those who control the information and its mainstream dissemination are in a position to act as the most important swing vote in any election." And, here we have a textbook case in media bias. The Washington Post just essentially prints a release from a group called the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. ![]() |

| Senior Member | Earlier this week the Lamestream Media threw a major tantrum when the McCain campaign tried to limit their access to Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s meetings with foreign officials. Today, Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden met with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili and completely excluded the press. And not a peep from the mainstream media. MILWAUKEE - Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden met with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili on Friday but didn’t let reporters in as the pair posed for photographers at the beginning of the session. | There are two posts noting the NY TIMES. (Actually form the McCain campaign.) The NY TIMES, is one of the most over-rated newspapers I can think of, IMO. The OP-Ed pages are awful, as well as the reporting in itself, after the Judith Miller, and Jason Blair incidences. |
