Would be herculean job for Sabang to copy and paste all the links you have used in Issues. Your right, it's the rules but cut him some slack just this once.

Maybe, Norts, but I find most America media fauning over BO while doing OpEd jabs at McCain.
One reason I quit reading the IHT several years ago -- it just turned so bladdy leftie, even the news stories were slanted. Really POed me as when I trained it to BKK, it had been a great pleasure to read the IHT over morning coffee at the station.

The hallmark of any good paper is objectivity. If there is merely more to write about a community coordinator/freshman senator than a retired captain/veteran lawmaker, so be it.

I think it's bias. Unfortunately for BO, it doesn't always turn out to be good -- even if the coverage is generally positive.

You probably have me at a disadvantage as you have many more media sources available than I. The only sources of mainstream televised media I have are CNN and BBC. Neither of which I consider completely unbiased on most issues. CNN is covering the campaigns in detail. I find the analysts and pundits particularly annoying. Hate it when I have just watched McCain or Obama make a speech and these "experts" all tell me what was meant by what I just heard. Problem is, they each have a biased spin in their interpretation which at times is completely unrelated to what was said.

In the US, I reckon you and others are subjected to a barrage of this nonsense. The media is guilty of trying to manufacture rather than report the news. Clearly they have way too much time to fill with their 24/7 coverage.

Well, there's hope. Two of the worst are out!

MSNBC is removing Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews as the anchors of live political events, bowing to growing criticism that they are too opinionated to be seen as neutral in the heat of the presidential campaign.

^ Well, they put Rachel Maddows in and she is worse than Olbermann, IMO. But, I agree than Olbermann is a pompous turd. Matthews is just another wet towel.

the right always dig up this old chestnut about a media bias to motivate the base....and those who are able to remember back to previous bush campaigns in '92 and '04 realize this is simply theater.

case in point....

a reporter asked mccain about the connection between his campaign manager rick davis and fannie mae and freddie mac--and mccain responded that davis was no longer involved with the mortgage giants and that...

Quote:
I’ll be glad to have his record examined by anybody who wants to look at it.”
so the NYT did take a look at the record of davis and fannie/freddie...and it turns out that davis was making $35,000/month from fannie/freddie. and what was he doing?.......nothing but working against regulation of the industry. and over the last five years, davis' firm pocketed nearly $2 million directly from fannie and freddie.

so when presented with this information ---that mccain himself essentially instigated---the mccain campaign attacked the NYT.
Quote:
“Whatever the New York Times once was, it is today not by any standard a journalistic organization,” Schmidt said on a conference call. “It is a pro-Obama organization that every day attacks the McCain campaign, attacks Sen. McCain, attacks Gov. Palin and excuses Sen. Obama.”
and schmidt then went on to attack the obama campaign...but his attacks were full of misstatements and exaggerations.
Quote:
Asked about the series of errors, McCain aides could not provide evidence to back up Schmidt’s assertions.

One McCain aide, Michael Goldfarb, said Politico was “quibbling with ridiculously small details when the basic things are completely right.”

Another, Brian Rogers, responded more directly:

“You are in the tank,” he e-mailed.

Media tries to will the US into the age of Obamalot. "A free society cannot run this way. If information is power, those who control the information and its mainstream dissemination are in a position to act as the most important swing vote in any election."

And, here we have a textbook case in media bias. The Washington Post just essentially prints a release from a group called the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.

Earlier this week the Lamestream Media threw a major tantrum when the McCain campaign tried to limit their access to Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s meetings with foreign officials.
Today, Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden met with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili and completely excluded the press.
And not a peep from the mainstream media.
MILWAUKEE - Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden met with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili on Friday but didn’t let reporters in as the pair posed for photographers at the beginning of the session.
The decision to allow only photographers, and no reporters, into the meeting briefly at its start recalled a similar move by Biden’s Republican counterpart, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, earlier this week. Some of the reporters that cover Palin’s vice presidential campaign protested and got the restriction dropped.

There are two posts noting the NY TIMES. (Actually form the McCain campaign.)

The NY TIMES, is one of the most over-rated newspapers I can think of, IMO.

The OP-Ed pages are awful, as well as the reporting in itself, after the Judith Miller, and Jason Blair incidences.

You can also go back to false, fake stories written in the 1980s.

Garbage.

^ Sadly, the NYT is just a dish rag now. The opinions have swept through to the news reporting. But this is so in most rags today.
