For those who do think, a biased media that only presents one side of an issue effectively leads people to a conclusion... A decision they might not have made if they were presented all viewpoints...

Tex is correct in that the media and especially the news agencies in the US are no longer objective... The almighty $$$ determines what gets aired...

Media, by it's very nature, like any stimulation will be subjective. Remember, when one ask this question towards a medium {generally speaking}, there is a varied and diverse media available that one couldn't place a standardized tag on.

It is literally sickening sometimes to listen to. This guy emails: “What Katrina taught the media was that they could hurt Bush by lying. What 2008 taught them was that they could help Obama by not reporting at all. What will 2009 teach them? I shudder to think.”

There is bias almost everywhere. We are human. Producers, directors, and jounalists in the media have biases, as well all do.

The think the US mainstream media (MSM) is bad for many reasons. And it's biased.

What are we doing? Criticizing the MSM, which needs to be done, but we also read the news that fits our own biases.

This is how we get around this.

But in the end, we talk about, discuss, and debate topics that are often spoon-fed to us by the MSM.

They set the agenda - we lap it up.

That is why I barely read the news. I read the news on the forums, but I tend to not to get involved with the negative news. Shit happens all over the world, and people will report the headlines that sell papers. Of course it is not objective because it is people's opinions, and people will write what they know the audience wants to hear.

For me it's not about bias by one media outlet or another, it's the way either faction goes out of their way to vilify the other team... Much the way each party continually snipes at the other as often as possible...

The media stopped reporting the news and began manufacturing it a long time ago...
