4 LEOs Gunned Down in Ambush in Tacoma, WA

LEO = Law Enforcement Officer. (Police man/woman, cop).

They must have established a predictable pattern, stopping at this coffee shop around the same time. I assumed this was planned. Lakewood is not a good area.

A notable story as gunning down 4 cops in an ambush is rare.

Here's an update. A long-time repeat felon. Huckabee gave him clemency?

Maurice Clemmons, the 37-year-old Tacoma man being sought for questioning in the killing of four Lakewood police officers this morning, has a long criminal record punctuated by violence, erratic behavior and concerns about his mental health.
Nine years ago, then-Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee granted clemency to Clemmons, commuting his lengthy prison sentence over the protestations of prosecutors.

"This is the day I've been dreading for a long time," Larry Jegley, prosecuting attorney for Arkansas' Pulaski County said Sunday night when informed that Clemmons was being sought in connection to the killings.

Clemmons' criminal history includes at least five felony convictions in Arkansas and at least eight felony charges in Washington. The record also stands out for the number of times he has been released from custody despite questions about the danger he posed.

Clemmons had been in jail in Pierce County for the past several months on a pending charge of second-degree rape of a child.

He was released from custody just six days ago, even though he was wanted on a fugitive warrant out of Arkansas and was staring at eight felony charges in all out of Washington state.

Clemmons posted $15,000 with a Chehalis company called Jail Sucks Bail Bonds. The bondsman, in turn, put up $150,000, securing Clemmons' release on the pending child-rape charge.

Here is a part of some legal issues this guy has. The links are the source: the Pierce County Legal Information Network Exchange.

And given clemency by Mike Huckabee. I hope this bites Huckabee as I don't like him.

that sound you just heard was the door slamming on huckabee's chances in 2012.

two questions:

1. taking into consideration that huckabee has a show on fox, how will fox cover this aspect of the story? if they cover it all.

2. how will fox blame this on obama?

Clemmons' is black, Obama's black... To the usual suspects it will be the same as if Obama had pulled the trigger himself because all blacks are the same aren't they.

This has nothing to do with Obama. How did the President get mentioned with a person going on a targeted mass killing in Lakewood, Washgton, state?

Seattle police killer suspect 'shot and possibly dead'

Seattle police killer suspect 'shot and possibly dead'

Maurice Clemmons has been named in connection with the case

Police in Seattle say they have shot and possibly killed a man suspected of shooting dead four officers in a cafe in Washington State.

The Seattle home of Maurice Clemmons had been surrounded by police hunting the suspected killer.

Acting on a tip-off, they sealed off part of the Leschi area of the city, while armed Swat team members ringed the property.

Mr Clemmons, 37, has not been named as a formal suspect.

Ed Troyer, a spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff, confirmed that Mr Clemmons had been shot by police.

"He may be deceased from his gunshot wound," Mr Troyer told the Associated Press news agency.

News of the siege broke in the early hours of Monday, local time. Washington State is eight hours behind GMT.

Police used a loud-hailer to call on Mr Clemmons to come out of the house but there was initially no confirmation that he was inside.
This is one of the toughest decisions you'll make in your life but you need to man up
Police negotiator speaking to suspect at siege house

Jeff Kappel of the Seattle Police Department told local people to stay in their homes with the doors locked.

"Just allow us to get this subject identified and verify his identity and go from there," he said.

Just before the police began shooting, they shone lights on the house and called out to Mr Clemmons by name.

"Mr Clemmons, I'd like to get you out of there safely," a negotiator said through a loud-hailer.

"I can tell you this, we are not going away."

According to an Associated Press photographer, no response was audible from inside the house.

'Deliberate'

Shortly afterwards, police began using sirens outside the house and several loud bangs rang out before the negotiator resumed speaking.

^ Way to go, DD. You're the blood hound that scooped the story. Now, I want to know, if there was a #2 assailant, as initial reported.

Huckabee, 2012? I wonder how this will play out.

Suspect released in Arkansas after claiming he had changed

By Jim Brunner

Seattle Times staff reporter

Documents released this morning by the Arkansas Parole Board show police slaying suspect Maurice Clemmons was supposed to remain in prison there until at least 2015, but won his release by claiming he'd changed while behind bars.

Clemmons' appeal for clemency was granted in May 2000 by then-Gov. Mike Huckabee, who commuted Clemmons sentence and made him immediately eligible for parole.

Clemmons wrote in an appeal to Huckabee that he'd been sent to prison after an extended crime spree that started in 1989 when he was a teenager — and that he was a different person now.

Good analysis, Slackula. Yes, that is, scary stuff.

We'll have to wait about 2 years to see how this 'clemency' pans out.

Good analysis.

Huckabee now....blames others, and blames, the system.

Sorry, Huckabee, you made the decision. This decision to commute a 95 year sentence was yours, and yours, only.

And the parole board in AR, in the case is contradicting Huckabee's claims.

Quote:
Huckabee's commutation record

Posted: Monday, November 30, 2009

From msnbc.com's Carrie Dann
As we noted this morning, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee came under fire during his presidential run for his commutation of the sentence of Wayne Dumond, who was found guilty of rape and murder in Missouri after being released from prison in Arkansas.

In light of the news that Huckabee commuted the 95-year sentence
of the suspect in yesterday’s slaying of four Washington state police officers, we dusted off our 2008 campaign research books to take another look at the numbers.

On his radio show today, Huckabee again addressed the slayings, placing blame both with his own state’s system and the government of Washington.

“Should he be found to be responsible for this horrible tragedy, it will be a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington state,” he said of Clemmons.

Huckabee blames the Arkansas parole board for granting Clemmons' parole -- something he did in the case of Dumond as well. Parole board members, however, told NBC News in 2007 that Huckabee initiated and encouraged Dumond's parole.

Yup, just watched him on O'Reilly, interesting that FOX brought out the big guns to address this story. The release was fault of the judges, the parole board and everybody except Huckabee.

O'Reilly: "I don't blame you and I don't think anybody watching this show blames you either"

The Party Of Personal Responsibility™ strikes again.
