The Dept of Education is yet another bloated federal program that serves no purpose when state & local governments mandate the programs & policies of school districts... There are no federal standards / mandates which state & local governments must adhere to with respect to educational programs for America's youth...

All the DOE does is dole out federal funding to state & local school systems based on demographics and census data, along with managing student loan programs... You don't need 4,200 people for this task...

I just knew one of the usual suspects would come along, maw wide open, and willingly and readily swallow this one whole - hook, line and sinker.

I guess that's the end result when you are used to being told what to think and take your cues from blogs and Faux News rather than engaging your own critical faculties.

Booners you believed this for the same reason you believed that Obama was a Muslim; that he wasn't qualifed to be POTUS by birth; that the healthcare reform Bill contained 'death panels'; and every other rumour, innuendo and claim posited about Obama and the Democrats on right-wing blogs.

And that reason is that you want it to be true, Booners. You want it so bad that you'll suspend all objectivity, rational and independent query just so that you can. P.T Barnum had a saying for people like you.

Actually, I've never believed BO was or is a Muslim. There is still an off-chance he isn't a natural-born American tho. The health-care 'reforms' did include 'death panels' until recently when BO and crowd found out it wasn't going to go over too well.

Let me illuminate this one major point for you - BO is an anti-freee-market Marxist-leaning liberal. So, it's natural to readily assume the worst regarding the fellow. He is a disaster for America and elsewhere - jing, jing. Come on 2012!

Everything you've stated in that paragraph is either incorrect and/or has no basis in reality. The thing with the death panels for instance; that was repeatedly shown to be false, even pointed out to you specifically, and yet you still choose to believe it. And Obama being Muslim, you actively argued that across several threads and for some time on here. Yet now you'd have me believe you never believed it - when was the lie, then or now?

I think there's some sort of formal term for such a thing; where someone becomes so invested in believing something that they will actively ignore all objective evidence and fact to the contrary - confirmation bias or something like that? Can't really remember.

Suffice to say, whatever it's called, I think it's best summed up by simply saying... None so blind as those that don't want to see, eh Booners.

That's my line for RA & sundry. 99% sure I was the first to use it on this forum (but really cannot be arsed to look back) and it has been borrowed ever since. Heh...imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, eh?

Anyhow, getting back to the point - actually believe you engage American Conservatives on this forum only as mild form of 'intellectual' entertainment. You, personally, do not have a dog in these fights whereas with RA for example, we get right up his nose!

Don't know why I bother...but I'll bet you a sum of money or other goods (bartering is getting more popular these days) that you cannot find a post anywhere where I've categorically claimed BO to be a Muslim. Never happened which is further proof that you, as a left-leaning liberal, make stuff up...
