| Because that's what he promotes. The only time he talks about his white family is for sympathy votes about his mom and the big bad insurance companies who would not cover her for cancer treatment and a few nice things about his white Grandma (the one who called blacks bad names, according to his book) and then his trip to Hawaii to see her. Thought it strange the whole fam didn't go to visit her last summer on their vakay -- they all went to HW but only BO went to see her, as I saw on the various networks. Did he go to her funeral? That kinda got shuffled over in the press. He's not what he appears to be, IMO, but you libbies keep on dreaming. |

I think the term 'black' sticks to someone until they 'look' white . . . I'm sure many here know 'blacks' that are as far removed from being 'black' as most of us here. It is an easy label to stick on someone, especially if it is meant as a derogatory term.

| Quote: Obama is the once in a generation polician: articulate, well-read, smart, pragmatic, a great orator, and has an ability to resonate with people. Additionally, he's got a unique background. Quote:
We'll see how Obama does. I think he's the best candidate out of all of the candidates of both parties for this election.

I doubt, in your wildest dreams, it can match the neo-con fantasy of world hegemony that the Bush administration so unsuccesfully foisted on the first few years of the 21st century. ![]()

| There's nothing wrong with populating one's cabinet with insiders if they're skillful, ethical and intelligent. After all, where else is one going to find the sort of experience needed to govern? Obama runs the show and appointees have specific, subordinate functions within their cabinet positons. However, if Hillary becomes Secretary of State, it would be a huge disappointment. She ran a sleazy presidential campaign, is highly sycophantic to Israel and has little of the charm and diplomatic skill of her husband. Isn't this the same woman who said in the presidential debates that she wouldn't talk to hostile regimes such as Iran? Now she will be in a diplomatic post where she may be forced to do exactly that. Christopher Hitchens rightly called her pending appointment a 'ludicrous embarassment". Christopher Hitchens Calls Hillary Clinton As Secretary Of State A "Ludicrous Embarrassment" |

| Yeh, I've got reservations about Hillary as SoS. I thought she might be destined for health- but Daschle was an excellent good pick there, imo. She carries a fair bit of political weight, so for political reasons should probably be offered something, but I don't think making her the foreign mouthpiece puts a desirable slant on the Obama administrations 'new broom'. One insider too many, one compromise too far imo.

If things go well for Obama then he’ll be the lock in four years to run again for the blue team, and where will Hillary be? Surely she won’t hang around as SoS for eight years? I think she would have been better off hanging around in the Senate, moving up the seniority chart, and waiting out the next four/eight years. I think offering the SoS job to Hillary is a bad move for Obama – now he will have her and Bill in the shadows of everything he does internationally. A real risk of people questioning who is calling the shots on international issues. Especially considering the international front is probably where he and Hillary agree the least on things.

| I don't like Hillary as SoS. Perhaps BO is catering to her camp, to solidify himself. BO is the boss on paper, but HRC will be conducting a lot of policies at her discretion when it comes to the bureaucracy of State: Embassy, consulates, etc. |
