| Then again, maybe you don't want South Carolina, at least until we figure out what to do with all the inbred white folks: The Reality-Based Community Only 20-25% of white Southerners give the factually correct answer to the true-false question: "Barack Obama was born in the United States." This is a good example of what the social-science methodologists call "interaction effects." Non-white and Latino Southerners are no less likely to get the right answer than are non-whites and Latinos in the rest of the country. So it can't be something in the water, or the effects of the fried-meat-white-bread-and-boiled-veggies culinary culture of the South. And whites in the rest of the country also do fairly well on the question. So it can't be evidence of a cognitive deficit correlated with melanin and carotene deficiency. But somehow the interaction of whiteness and Southerness produces deep and abiding ignorance. Perhaps it's Vitamin D poisoning due to the effects of intensive exposure to sunlight among people with little capacity to tan. Or just the effect of seeing a member of the despised under-caste elevated to the Presidency, and grossly outperforming his white Southern predecessor. |

| In transit to Valhalla | ^ And if you ask blacks anywhere in the US if OJ was innocent 90% will most probably answer yes , in a country where the sentence "In Good we trust" has such importance it is no surprise to us Europeans that pig ignorance is prevalent in whites and blacks alike. As stated previously, thanks but no thanks, you stew in your own fat and we'll keep ours. This concludes the negotiations. Have to prepare for a last night out whoremongering with Nedwalk and the boys before he goes back home ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Have a nice one Last edited by larvidchr : 01-08-2009 at 02:41 PM. |

And it is a paradox that such "pig ignorance" is so widespread in a country that remains a leader in medical and information tech innovation, not to mention financial innovation (regulation-loophole-location), which I don't think I need remind you Europe bought into lock, stock, and barrel (not feeling the wind from Iceland at all in Denmark?). OK, maybe only the first two innovations, to which we might add aviation and space techs. Goldman Sachs is back in the black, right? OK, that is not so great, but maybe now that Obama has paid the piper he can do a Roosevelt and turn on them and pull off some kind of miracle- more like Moses rather than the Son o' God. At any rate, I think we are fucked, and if there are Europeans who think they are going to weather this storm easily with America underwater, well, best of luck, hope you are right, because a healthy Europe will be a good ally for the US in getting out of this. I'd rather have Europeans coming in and buying up America cheap than the Chinese or Nippon (who are also hoping against hope that the US pulls through). We are in this together- even in the wars, now that German soldiers and airmen are actually fighting for the first time since the unmentionable- unlike the Danes, who weren't afraid to mix it up in the former Yugoslavia. Of course, Captain America had to come in and sort that out, eh? The US has brains and brawn, along with a whole lot of reckless and stupid, I'll grant you. By the way, the Chairman of Deutsche Bank said recently that the next wave is coming, so grab onto something that floats. Have fun! ![]() ![]()

| Wouldn't surprise me if the Chinese dont have a back up plan to move in and buy up big chunks of USA with their $US reserves when it all goes pear shaped and the $US drops drastically in value. We could see a whole new set of labels on products, -- "Made in USA, -- owned in China". |

Last Dane I knew in Thailand made "disability" benefits of Bt60,000 or so a month -- couldn't work coz of a bad back, but he seemed to ride his motocyc OK and I only saw him suffer from his daily hangovers. Yep, nice system. I can't decide who's taken over, the Chinese or the Koreans. Depends on the neighbourhood. Many kimchee counties now, and if you have a shop in one of their strip malls, get ready to move when your lease expires, unless you want to see your rent rise ten times the current payout. Take your life in your hands when you walk across one of their parking lots, too.

| Oh, Denmark IS expensive, because people has a somewhat fair pay. So, it all evens out. Vat = 25% and the shocker is the 180% registration tax on Motorvehicles. We have the oldest cars in EU It is about redistributing wealth. A danish writer, poet, priest and politician, named Grundtvig, said in the 19 century: "Then have we in prosperity taken it far, when a few have too much, and even fewer too little". Our much revered Congress seems perplexed at formulating a health care bill which cuts costs and covers everyone. Maybe they don't know this is something that is already in place and proven in several countries. We really need some help so thank you for your sympathy but would you be kind enough to send a copy of your health care program rules and structure to the US Congress. Express mail please. I will personally reimburse you.

| ^ Them Danes are hardy folks and never ask for elective surgery? The organisation and financing of the Danish health care system was evaluated within a framework of a SWOT analysis (analysis of strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats) by a panel of five members with a background in health economics. The evaluation was based on reading an extensive amount of selected documents and literature on the Danish health care system, and a one-week visit to health care authorities, providers and key persons. The present paper includes the main findings by one of the panel members. The dominance of tax financing helps to achieve control over the level of health care expenditure, as well as securing equity in financing the services. The reliance on local government for financing and running health care has both advantages and disadvantages, and the split between county and municipal responsibility leads to problems of co-ordination. The remuneration of general practitioners by a mix of capitation payment and fee for services has the advantage of capping expenditure whilst leaving the GPs with an incentive to compete for patients by providing them with good services. The GP service is remarkably economical. The hospital sector displays much strength, but there seem to be problems with respect to: (i) perceived lack of resources and waiting lists; (ii) impersonal care, lack of continuity of care and failures in communication between patients and staff; (iii) management problems and sometimes demotivated staff. The relationship between patients and providers is facilitated by free access to GPs and absence of any charges for hospital treatment. The biggest threat is continuation of avoidable illness caused by poor health habits in the population. The biggest opportunity is to strengthen public health measures to tackle these poor health habits. Elsevier: Article Locator Last edited by Jet Gorgon : 02-08-2009 at 03:09 PM. |
