| Mass Fraud Fears In US Election US election officials believe they have uncovered massive attempted voter fraud less than a month before the country goes to the polls to choose its new president. US authorities are desperate to stop voter fraud Eleven separate investigations have now been launched into a voter registration group called the Association of Community Organisations for Reform – or Acorn. The authorities believe they may have duplicated voter forms, employed convicts to register people and even stolen the names of the American football team the Dallas Cowboys in order to create fake voters. The suspicions started when authorities in Las Vegas raided the organisation's offices, removing eight computer hard drives and several boxes of documents. Acorn called the raid "a stunt that serves no useful purpose other than discredit our work". US officials may have uncoverd attempted voter fraud less than a month before US Election | World News | Sky News

| ACORN is a low income action group, and they are acting for the Dems- well, mainly- whoever they register can obviously vote how they want, but demographically considered more likely Democrat. I was watching Fox about this yesterday- like Sky, also a Murdoch company. Claims that it is on a massive scale seem totally hyped, but nevertheless voter Fraud should be jumped on vigilently, and stamped out. The other side of voter fraud is, of course, preventing through bureaucratic channels qualified voters from voting- as happened in Florida and a couple of other places in the US during the 1980 elections. The NY Times has evidence of this happening again, although it is not suggesting it is necessarily politically motivated- it may in fact be partially a reaction to some rogue ACORN members activities. States’ Actions to Block Voters Appear Illegal Tens of thousands of eligible voters in at least six swing states have been removed from the rolls or have been blocked from registering in ways that appear to violate federal law, according to a review of state records and Social Security data by The New York Times. The actions do not seem to be coordinated by one party or the other, nor do they appear to be the result of election officials intentionally breaking rules, but are apparently the result of mistakes in the handling of the registrations and voter files as the states tried to comply with a 2002 federal law, intended to overhaul the way elections are run. Still, because Democrats have been more aggressive at registering new voters this year, according to state election officials, any heightened screening of new applications may affect their party’s supporters disproportionately. The screening or trimming of voter registration lists in the six states — Colorado, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Nevada and North Carolina — could also result in problems at the polls on Election Day: people who have been removed from the rolls are likely to show up only to be challenged by political party officials or election workers, resulting in confusion, long lines and heated tempers. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/09/us...th&oref=slogin I would hope both Parties come down hard on any type of voter fraud. Certainly, the activities of what seems like rogue individuals in ACORN, cheating to get their quota and hence their money, do not help Obama one little bit.

"The group -- the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN -- already faces allegations of filing fraudulent voter registrations in Nevada and faces investigations in other states. And in Lake County, home to the long-depressed steel town of Gary, the bipartisan Elections Board has stopped processing a stack of about 5,000 applications delivered just before the October 6 registration deadline after the first 2,100 turned out to be phony. "All the signatures looked exactly the same," Ruthann Hoagland, a Republican on the board. "Everything on the card filled out looks exactly the same." Thousands of voter registration forms faked, officials say - CNN.com

| Thailand Travel Forum | Stealing Pennsylvania: "Massive Fraud" A retired Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice says that she is "not confident we can get a fair election" in the state come November. Justice Sandra Newman, accompanied by Dauphin County District Attorney Edward Marsico and Pennsylvania Republican State Chairman Robert Gleason, expressed her concerns at a Harrisburg press conference this morning. A thick document replete with photo copies of phony registrations and aerial shots of vacant lots used as "addresses" for "voters" was handed out to journalists. Gleason was even more explicit. "Between March 23rd and October 1st, various groups, including ACORN, submitted over 252,595 registrations to the Philadelphia County Election Board" with 57, 435 rejected for faulty information. "Most of these registrations were submitted by ACORN, and rejected due to fake social security numbers, incorrect dates of birth, clearly fraudulent signatures, addresses that do not exist, and duplicate registrations. In one case, a man was registered to vote more than 15 times since the Primary election." http://www.spectator.org/dsp_article.asp?art_id=14034 ![]() Incendiary: I think it's fair to say that if Obama hangs on to win, more than half the voters will believe he stole it, and with good reason.

| Whichever side cheats in voter fraud, it's disgusting. ACORN has been particularly underhanded from the news I've seen. Last edited by Jet Gorgon : 12-10-2008 at 12:41 PM. Reason: typo |
