There has been a number of posts saying how Obama's relationship with the group Ayers has been a part of (the Annenberg foundation) is questionable and that Obama must, obviously, share the same views as Ayers since he has been to six meetings of the group.

So when the Annenberg Foundation's founder, Leonore Annenberg, announced her endorsement, you can imagine the uproar! It's bad enough that you have a Presidential candidate on the Board of this radical group, but to be endorsed by the founder! It practically screams out that the candidate is a radical leftist bent on destruction of the United States!!!!

Is that silence I hear from the right? How can that be? Isn't this association proof of Obama's treasanous nature?

Oh, wait. It appears she endorsed John McCain. LOL

You know, sometimes it pays to apply one's own scrutiny to material before linking and quoting it.

Btw, Andy Martin was identified by The Nation and The Washington Post as the primary source of rumors that Barack Obama is a closet Muslim. LOL

This is a lame and impotent line of attack for mccain (and an even stupider thread topic).

Perhaps, but it seems to be gathering traction with recent revelations revealing that Ayers wasn't "just a guy in the neighborhood" and how Michele Obama worked at the same law firm in the late 80's as Bernadine Dorhn.
Ayers and Obama had control of the distribution of 100 million dollars in South Chicago. Your kidding yourself if you think that isn't significant.
And now that Barry has been caught with his pants down again, he's going to be properly fucked.

David Horowitz on Ayers:
Quote:
I interviewed Ayers ten years ago, in a kindergarten classroom in uptown Manhattan where he was employed to shape the minds of inner city children. Dressed in bib overalls with golden curls rolling below his ears, Ayers reviewed his activities as a terrorist for my tape recorder. When he was done, he broke into a broad, Jack Horner grin and summed up his experience: “Guilty as hell. Free as a bird. America is a great country.”
What I saw was a shallowness beyond conception. All the Weather leaders I interviewed shared a similar vacuity. They were living inside a utopian fantasy, a separate reality, and had no idea of what they had done. Nor any way to measure it. Appreciating the nation to which they were born, recognizing the great gifts of freedom and opportunity their parents and communities had given them, distinguishing between right and wrong – it was all above their mental and moral ceiling. In the days ahead, this is one of the dangers we face.

Wiki states-

CNN's review of project records found nothing to suggest anything inappropriate in the non-profit projects in which the two men were involved.

Internal reviews by The New York times, The Washington Post, Time magazine, The Chicago Sun-Times, The New Yorker and The New Republic "have said that their reporting doesn't support the idea that Obama and Ayers had a close relationship".

"When I was 9 years-old the Weather Underground, the terrorist group founded by Barack Obama's friend William Ayers, firebombed my house. Barack Obama has dismissed concerns about his relationship with Ayers by noting that he was only a child when Ayers was planting bombs at the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol. But Ayers has never apologized for his crimes, he has reveled in them, expressing regret only for the fact that he didn't do more.

While Barack Obama once downplayed his relationship with Ayers, today his campaign took that deceit one step further. Barack Obama now denies he was even aware of his friend's violent past when, in 1995, Ayers hosted a party launching Obama's political career. ...

There's a definate element at play on this forum and in the wider community in general that seem to believe a lie repeated often enough becomes the truth - the more self-delusional amongst them even manage to convinc themselves of the altered-reality after a point.

Well, BO can claim Bill Ayers was a bomber when he was 8, but Bill Ayers still claims to be a Communist revolutionary now that Barack Hussein Obama is 47. Put that in your Bong and smoke it...

The five senators, Alan Cranston (D-CA), Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ), John Glenn (D-OH), John McCain (R-AZ), and Donald W. Riegle (D-MI), were accused of improperly intervening in 1987 on behalf of Charles H. Keating, Jr., chairman of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which was the target of a regulatory investigation by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB).The FHLBB subsequently backed off taking action against Lincoln.

Lincoln Savings and Loan collapsed in 1989, at a cost of $2 billion to the federal government. Some 23,000 Lincoln bondholders were defrauded and many elderly investors lost their life savings. The substantial political contributions that Keating had made to each of the senators, totalling $1.3 million, attracted considerable public and media attention.
McCain was exonerated; freed from any question of guilt.
Are you claiming he didn't take money from Keating ?

Odd that this is contrary to the evidence at the time.
I never understand why you guys selectively quote so you can have a shot at something. How did you miss this portion of my post? It's pretty good size.

Quote:
found nothing in my investigation which caused me to question Senator McCain's integrity,'' said Robert Bennett, the Washington lawyer who was special counsel to the ethics panel during what is called the Keating Five investigation. Mr. Bennett, more recently, has been one of President Clinton's lawyers.

Senator McCain had taken $112,000 in Keating-related campaign donations, trips aboard Mr. Keating's corporate jet and family vacations at the executive's Bahamas hideaway. While legal, these gifts made his attendance at the meetings with federal regulators all the more questionable. (The other four senators had also taken large contributions from Mr. Keating, some of them far more than Mr. McCain.)

Before the controversial meetings, Mr. Keating had called Senator McCain a wimp, because he would not intervene for him more aggressively with the regulators, and the two men never spoke to each other again. And once the regulators told the senators that there was a criminal referral on the Keating case, Mr. McCain dropped the matter entirely. (Mr. Keating was eventually convicted on state and federal fraud charges and served four years in prison. He now lives in Arizona.)

But Senator McCain was the only Republican embroiled in the affair, and Democrats on the panel would not release him, even at the urging of his friend Mr. Rudman, who was then a senator and the senior Republican on the committee.

''McCain was going to remain their Republican hostage, no matter what,'' Mr. Rudman wrote in his memoir, ''Combat.'' The ethics investigation took two years to complete, which taught Mr. McCain he could not rely on the go-along-get-along ethos of the Senate in an era of growing partisan rancor.
It was legal at the time. McCain has subsequently spent the rest of his career sponsoring campaign finance reform legislation.

I'm not having it both ways, Ant. According to the special prosecutor, Keating was displeased that McCain didn't intervene in the regulatory investigation. On the other hand, Obama and Ayers did business over a nine year period. Hardly ships in the night.

Good analogy. It's the last round of a championship fight. McCain is way behind on the scorecards and needs a knockout to win. McCain throws a big "left" Ayers hay maker that misses it's mark when Obama floats like a butterfly and much to McCain's surprise stings like a bee. McCain's corner is yelling at him to throw a Rev. Right. After receiving 11 rounds of pounding McCain is reeling barely able to defend himself and has went into a rope a dope strategy hoping Obama will tire or make a mistake so McCain can deliver the tried and true KO punch he learned from his trainer. A devastating, underhanded vote recount low blow.
