Declared 166K taxable income. That does not include whatever other emoluments that good ole' Sarah gets as tax free expenses- they're not bad as guv'nor y'know, especially when you charge the taxpayer to work at home more than you actually go to your State provided office and mansion in the State capitol . Then theres capital gains, and I know from first hand experience those council folk just seem to get it right on real estate, especially land that is about to be rezoned. And, well, who knows what else. Alaska provides a myriad of opportunities.

That ain't no hockey mums house, plane and boat there booner.

Real estate on a lake in Alaska is cheaper than the six acres by a lake Biden's home sits on. The pleasure boat is probably the commerical boat they use to supplement their incomes during salmon season. The airplane, it is Alaska, is probably used by her husband to get to and from work. It could be he has a friend who charters hunting trips and Palin's husband makes a little side money during hunting season flying in supplies to campsites. They are trying to survive in Alaska. It's not cheap up there. Has anyone reported that they actually use it? It may well be a restoration project or hobby much like someone restoring a '65 Ford Mustang or a sailing boat over a lifetime.

It's not like the media hasn't outright lied about Sarah and her family.

Aparently the VP debates went "good" for the Rebublicans becuase the Alaskan lass says "dagnammit" "downhome" "howdie yall" and winks at the camera. This makes sepos think she is folksy and down to earth.

I don't think the point is generating the grist mill, nor is it jealousy . . . she can stay in Alaska and I'll stay here . . . to each their own.

I believe the point is that she portrays herself as middle-class, a fellow battler etc etc, when clearly she is not.
Americans used to be proud of the fact that they are successful, and so they should (without the 'in-your'face' attitude)- this is where they Europeans and Aussies have a bit of a hangover of the tall poppy syndrome . . . so why is it permissible for clearly successful politicians to tone down their success and declare themselves for less than they clearly are . . . for political reasons.

A silly move to be interviewed at her house, parading around the plane . . .

The cynicism is what grates, not the fact that she has money.

We ain't hiring someone based on their personality or how much or little they earn but on how well they can get the JOB done. BO has proven himself a divider when in the Ill Senate - voted 99% of the time "Present" or on the side of government handouts - look where that's gotten the economy today, eh?

Palin has proven herself a reformer taking on Big Oil, throwing out corrupt pols in Alaska. So friggin' what she's proud of her 'big' house and airplane? What does that matter in the whole sceme of things?

It matters none- as soon as she stops insulting people by calling herself a 'hockey mum'.

Sarah Palin is a very ambitious woman- there are even whispers coming from the Republican side that she sometimes puts herself above the 'ticket' and Mccain. I won't fault her for that, but as everyone knows she is just too junior for the job, simple as that. As has been cruelly exposed by her interviews with the press.
