McCain and all this "fighting for his country" BS

OK, so I'll confess right at the start that I'm a pinko commie faggot, but all this McCain the war hero, tortured in prison having been shot down while serving his country stuff is really getting on my tits.

McCain was over 8,000 miles from US soil, flying an A-4E Skyhawk ground attack aircraft. His job was to drop bombs on the heads of a peasant army, killing who knows how many civilians as a by-product, in a country far away that didn't attack the US and indeed couldn't have attacked the US even if it had tried. He volunteered for this job, and was paid to do so by US Government.

I don't doubt that he was treated very badly when he was shot down or that he endured a lot of pain and suffering as a result. But enduring pain and suffering isn't enough to to earn you hero status.

Or did someone redefine the word hero when I wasn't looking?
The sleep of reason brings forth monsters.

He doesn't refer to himself as a hero.

    Did Trafalger? Did Nelson?

The problem is that the Poms haven't had a military hero since Harold. And they can't admit it because he knocked off 30 ragheads by himself.

And you sorry kunts cant admit that because you all find curry lovely and Indian take-away Brilliant.

Easier to blame the Yanks for everything. -- stupid cunts. This yank is getting tired of it.

I'm not blaming the yanks for everything. I'm just saying all this McCain the hero is bull. You need to do something heroic in a good cause to earn that. Getting shot down, captured and tortured while you were busy dropping bombs on complete strangers who had never done anything to you doesn't fit the bill.

Landing on the beaches of Normandy under heavy fire in order to free Europe from the Nazis does.

Yes and no. 3 to 4 million Vietnamese, and 1.5 to 2 million Laotians and Cambodians were killed. 58,159 U.S. soldiers were killed.

'Cause like Tx said, we got one and y'all haven't had one in dogs ages. If it wern't for election-season, this 'War Hero' stuff wouldn't surface.

McCain did spend 5.5 years being subjected to the NVA 'hospitality', came away from it not feeling sorry for himself - the guy does have guts.

That it might mean 'something' that the guy put his life on the line as opposed to running off to Canada like Jason's parents did?

The last 'Hero' UK had was Lady Thatcher and 90% of the Libtards aboard here loath her. Heh...what does that say for the 'represenetive sample' eh?

Joining the army in the UK is a choice, no one forces you to do it, same as any other form of employment, you are paid to do a job.

Depends on their Pedigree I suppose.
McCain comes from a long line of Leaders and it's a natural he follow in their footsteps.

I'm not suggesting that military service is a positive experience to adapt toward civilian rule, but there are some attributes that don't fare well toward serving the public.

Surely you know them well. If you had the opportunity to chose an untested, unknhown first term MP or a guy that had served 20 years in the forces and another 20 years as a tried and tested MP -- where would your vote go?

    Caution-to-the-wind -- whatever is cheapest -- yeah, I know.

Fortunately Americans aren't such a bunch of stupid, short-sighted cunts.

Errrm the difference being us Brits don't treat our prime ministers as heroes where as you Americans all worship your presidents and always jump to defend them anytime a negative word is said about them, even clowns like Bush.

At the end of the day in reality what has McCains military experience got to do with him becoming president, it's not as if he was a general devising battle plans now was it??

At the end of the day be it Barry or McCain who becomes the next president, none of them is going to be devising military planning, that will be your joint chiefs.
