While inflation is up, it actaully dropped recently (and I expect it to continue to drop as long as the price of oil stays below $100 per barrel), unemployment is up but still not really bad it's less than 7% (I think anything below 10% is OK, below 7% is good, and anything below 5% is hard to maintain), GDP is up over 3% last quarter, and it's not like the US productivity is in the shitter either. Sure it's not a rosey picture in some areas, but the current fundamentals really are not bad. Could they be better? Sure... Edit in: Pretty easy to try and blame GWB for any bad economy, but he does not govern in a bubble. Congress has a hand in things as well. Plus, look around the world, not many places in the developed world that have fundamentals that compare with the US right now.

| This should put yet another sword into the heart of obama: Top Clinton fundraiser backs McCain over Obama By ANN SANNER, Associated Press Writer1 hour, 14 minutes ago A top Hillary Rodham Clinton fundraiser threw her support behind Republican John McCain on Wednesday, saying he will lead the country in a centrist fashion and accusing the Democrats of becoming too extreme. "I believe that Barack Obama, with MoveOn.org and Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean, has taken the Democratic Party — and they will continue to — too far to the left," Lynn Forester de Rothschild said. "I'm not comfortable there." Rothschild is also a member of the Democratic National Committee's Platform Committee. She said she would be stepping down from her position on the committee but will not switch political parties. Clinton spokeswoman Kathleen Strand said in an e-mail that the New York senator disagrees with Rothschild's decision to endorse McCain. "Senator Clinton has been criss-crossing the country and doing whatever she can to make the very clear case that the Obama-Biden ticket represents the new ideas and positive change we need right now, and the McCain-Palin ticket does not," Strand said in the e-mail. Rothschild said she was excited by the prospect of a woman being in the White House, even though she and Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin disagree on issues. The Alaska governor opposes abortion except in the case of a threat to the mother's life. Rothschild said she supports abortion rights. "I believe that the McCain-Palin government will be a centrist government," Rothschild said. "It's not going to be an ideological government." Rothschild is a member of the DNC's Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York. She was one of Clinton's top fundraisers, bringing in more than $100,000 for her presidential campaign. She built a multimillion-dollar telecommunications company before marrying international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Rothschild said she has not discussed her support for McCain with Clinton. "I'm sure she is not pleased with what I'm doing today," she said. "But you know what? I have to do what I believe in." Don't you just love it? I know I do. ![]()

| ^ I like how Hillary pulled out of a rally because Palin is also invited to speak. Crikes. These politicians. "Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the hockey mom GOP phenom, is coming to New York next week to carry John McCain's flag at a pro-Israel, anti-Iran rally. But she won't be sharing the stage with Sen. Hillary Clinton, who backed away from the event after learning Palin was coming." "Her attendance was news to us," Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines said last night. "Clearly there was some miscommunication because this was never billed to us as a partisan political event. Sen. Clinton will therefore not be attending this event." Awww, Clinton won't share the limelight. Too bad SNL ain't gonna be there. Many web pages, this is but one. | Thailand Travel Forum | Heh...the guy's a corrupt empty suit... Obama state earmark being probed. "A $100,000 state grant for a botanic garden in Englewood that then-state Sen. Barack Obama awarded in 2001 to a group headed by a onetime campaign volunteer is now under investigation by the Illinois attorney general amid new questions, prompted by Chicago Sun-Times reports, about whether the money might have been misspent. The garden was never built. And now state records obtained by the Sun-Times show $65,000 of the grant money went to the wife of Kenny B. Smith, the Obama 2000 congressional campaign volunteer who heads the Chicago Better Housing Association, which was in charge of the project for the blighted South Side neighborhood."

| Couldn't find a copy of the bailout bill, but did find this: The House GOP members were able to remove the Pelosi pork going to the Far Left group ACORN from the bailout bill during negotiations last night. This information was sent out this morning from the House GOP office: Two points to keep in mind: ** We have yet to see legislative language. House Republicans have said the bill language should be posted online for public review at least 24 hours before the vote. ** House Republicans will meet later today to review these changes and determine next steps. Help for Main Street: ** If after five years, the government has a net loss as a result of the purchase program, the President is required to submit a proposal to recoup those losses from the entities that benefited from this program. [Negotiated by House GOP] ** Provides for warrants of non-voting stock in companies receiving assistance so that taxpayers have an opportunity to recoup any losses. ** Allows community banks to take capital losses on Government Sponsored Entity (GSE) assets against ordinary income, providing much needed relief for local banks. [House GOP Priority] ** Authorizes government agencies that hold mortgages to do work-outs with troubled borrowers provided such workouts do not harm the interests of taxpayers. [Negotiated by House GOP] Assistance Funded By Wall Street, Not Main Street: ** Requires the establishment of an insurance guarantee program that in lieu of purchasing assets with taxpayer funds is available to insure assets at no cost to the taxpayer. Costs would be fully paid for by participating companies (i.e. those receiving the assistance). Assets insured by the program would count against the total funds the Secretary would otherwise have available to make purchases. [House GOP Priority] Eliminating Special Interest Earmarks: Prior to House Republicans stepping in, Democrats had loaded up the bill with special interest provisions. Provisions removed by House Republicans include: ** Provision to provide unions and other activist groups with proxy access for corporate boards ** Provision to mandate shareholder votes on compensation issues (union priority) ** Diversion of funds into a housing fund to support left-wing activist groups like ACORN ** A provision to allow trial judges to arbitrarily adjust mortgages, creating bonanza for trial lawyers ** A provision to require the government to sell to state and local governments at a discount homes the government acquires as a result of foreclosure http://www.politicalforum.com/curren...lout-plan.html |

| Thailand Travel Forum | Hits the nail... Barack Obama and Alinsky's Rules for Psychopaths the community organizer ... must first rub raw the resentments of the people; fan the latent hostilities to the point of overt expression.' -- Saul Alinsky, Rules for Radicals "(Barack) Obama worked in the organizing tradition of Saul Alinsky, who made Chicago the birthplace of modern community organizing...." -- The Nation "A psychopath is a person without conscience; someone who constantly breaks the moral rules of the community. Saul Alinsky was a "community organizer" who found a career that fit that personality disorder. In the Orwellian upside-down world of the Left, community organizers disorganize communities. That is the meaning of revolution, to overturn whatever exists today in the raw pursuit of one's own power" American Thinker: Barack Obama and Alinsky's Rules for Psychopaths Sure sounds like BO to us, don't it...eh? |

| Obama's team is in Columbus, OH, collecting low-income people and even homeless folks living in shelters to get them out for voter registration and early voting on the same day! And guess what, they don't even need ID to register. "Name?" "Mary Poppins." OMG. That can equate to voter fraud and has done so in the past. Is this how Obama won his Senate seat? What a slimeball. | ^ Geez, ray, I'm starting to feel sorry for you with all your anger issues. The point I made was that folks can register and vote under any name in some states, they need no ID to do so. They can then vote again after. This is voter fraud. Law in Canada: you must have a fixed address, be registered to vote and bring picture ID with current address or at least two other pieces of ID with your name and address in order to vote. Oh, another registered voter with the right ID can also swear you in as a legal entity residing at the stated address. Poll tax. Ya, I paid that in the UK. Mebbe the US should reinstate the law that only land-holding men have the right to vote. Wipe out them welfare cases that got guaranteed mortgages and now demand they get compensation after being kicked out for not paying. Is that you, ray? |

| Thailand Travel Forum | Heh...now it's Subversives for BO. Can it get get much worse? "Barack Obama appears to sit on a nexus between Marxist revolutionary activists, unrepentant former terrorists, Black Power racists, Chicago mobsters – oh, and a Saudi who is trying to buy up America. If you were to turn up at US immigration control with a background of such associates, it’s a fair bet they wouldn’t let you off the air-bridge. Yet this man may well become President of the US! If any other candidate had had merely a fleeting relationship with William Ayers, his candidacy would have been terminated before it was even articulated — let alone what we now know about Obama’s key role in Ayers’s CAC and its funding of radical groups; let alone the fact that Obama had been mentored during his formative years by a Communist Party plant; let alone his work for organisations modelled on the seditious philosophy of Saul Alinsky; let alone his two-decade membership of a Black Power church; let alone his relationship with fraudster Tony Rezko. |

| ^ Coz he is a black lawyer, Booners? Try Elections Canada On-line - Élections Canada en ligne Geez, I hope you're not planning to immigrate. We have enough commie tree-hugging loonies here already. Quote:
Use the same link I gave you and scroll down to where it says "search videos". Type in stealing elections and four vid selections should pop up. Check them all! One shows how authorities seized voter registration forms at an ACORN office in Washington State. Of the 1,800 forms, ONLY 6 were for real people. ACORN staffers admitted they used local phone books at the public library to pick names and one guy said he just made them up when he was at home smoking ganga. (You gotta love these people.) The ACORN chief denied knowing about the mess. 555 Note his shifting about -- his body language shows the git is lying. At the least, the guy should be fired for incompetance, but the civil liberties crowd would protest and say that would be racist coz he be black. Interesting, Washington State's legislature is Dem maj. I wonder, did they get in by third-party groups like ACORN cheating for them? | |||

| Considering the state of the economy; America's standing in the world; The presidents unpopularity and two unwinnable wars the Democrats should makwalk home but nominating a black man will make it a close race becuase most Americans are deeply prejudiced. One must remember that state Aparthied in the US was only seriously challenged 30 -40 years ago.
