That's what I'm wondering, Jet. Biden goes to Mass and the priest applies the ash to his forehead and then Biden goes before the cameras. Nowadays they apply makeup when they sit in committee (or wherever) if they know camera lights will be blazing on them. So how did VP Joe's assistant apply makeup without covering his smudge?

Sometimes I think Obama chose Joe because he knew Joe and his tendency to be stupid would draw the media attention away from Obama and his gaffs. Think Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.

to put it lightly, biden has been known to stretch the truth....but i'm supposed the believe karl rove when he says someone else is lying?

anyway, rove has three (major) problems...

1. his brand of divisive and fear mongering politics has been completely discredited. it may have worked for a short period of time ( september 2001 - november 2004), but the middle is where national elections are won. karl rove led the republicans into the wilderness they now find themselves lost in.

2. he's clearly having trouble coming to terms with being irrelevant....watching him get all red faced on youtube is good fun for me, but it's certainly not helping the republicans when most americans see him on cable news.

3. he knows his legacy is tied to bush's, so he's fighting tooth and nail to prop up legacy of his failed presidency...and it's as obvious as it is pointless.

this all leads back to how the republican party is leaderless......which leaves the democrats the amazing opportunity to compare themselves to limbaugh, cheney, and rove.

the front burner issue in the coming months will be health care and specter's vote can be counted on for that.
americans want affordable, universal health care, and specter's vote will likely prevent the obstructionist, far right republicans from filibustering the legislation, and the dems also won't have to use a parliamentary procedure unfamiliar to casual observers...it will be an open and public, straight vote.

specter's far too much of a hawk for my liking, but obama will eventually clean up the fiasco in iraq....this move was all about health care.
