Sarah Palin

now that mccain has chosen palin to be potentially "a heartbeat away" from the presidency, she certainly deserves her own thread here in issues.

let's take a look at the record and positions of this little known woman, and her impact on the race.

She has as much experience as the Messia of Change but appears more genuine, a fiesty good looking woman who is not afraid to take on big establishment/oil and stuck-in-the-mud politicians....this is going to be one hell of a campaign season..can't wait to see how Hillary and Bill stump the road for Obama...bye bye Hillary your last chance is slipping fast. Obama should be gratefull to McCain for choosing a woman and breaking the old tradition of US Presidents being white male now in 12 years he can run again and maybe with a bit of maturing and experience he might just make it.

A master stroke or an anchor?

Listened to her "introduction to the people speech" last night and certainly come across as an articulate and confident intelligent woman and politician.

Mixed review from the pundit's though. Again give her a fair chance and if she's not good enough we will soon find out.

Knowing very little about her, I'd say it was a move to bring in the disgruntled Hillary supporters. That narrow band of undecideds is what they're fighting for now. McCain also can shake the same-old song moniker with a young, woman as vice.

Most people's minds are already made up. I'm not sure this was a good move.

Quite an astute choice by the looks, more obvious than it may first appear too. Sorta swings the ball back a bit towards the McCain court having their own 'minority' (so to speak)

she wants to OUTLAW abortion everywhere in the US....even in the case of rape or incest.....once these 'disgruntled' hillary supporters learn about this, she won't get too many of their votes.

on a separate note, is it true that palin is under criminal investigation?

I actually heard Obama spent most of his senate time running for president? So I guess that probably discounts his experience on the national scene.

Military service should be applauded and what family wouldn't support and be proud of their sons or daughters?

She is an admirable, likable woman. I'm sure I would like her in person- although I entirely disagree with some of her views.

That said, i think McCain has suicided.

Something to do with corruptly trying to dismiss someone from government service because of a family problem she was having with the victims brother.

Texpat may have hit the nail on the head. I haven't seen polling, but I'd like to know who is still "undecided."

I think people have already made up their minds for the most part as this campaign was so lengthy because of the money needed to raised.

In this case, I think a VP pick not not really help a candidate. It could possible sipher off some votes from the few that are undecided, I think.

I don't think this pick by McCain was a good one.

More recently, she has come under the scrutiny of an investigation by the Republican-controlled legislature into the possibility that she ordered the dismissal of Alaska's public safety commissioner because he would not fire her former brother-in-law as a state trooper.
Palin has a long history of run-ins with the Alaska GOP hierarchy, giving her genuine maverick status and reformer credentials that could complement McCain's image. Her husband, Todd Palin, is part Yup'ik Eskimo, and is a blue-collar North Slope oil worker who competes in the Iron Dog, a 1,900-mile snowmobile race. The couple lives in Wasilla. They have five children, the youngest of whom was born in April with Down syndrome.
Sounds like she aint gonna take shit from anybody.whatever the prob was with the brother-in-law I'm sure the McCain people vetted her like she was x Soviet KGB so there is not going to be a silver bullet.
What a resume: a hockey mum turned Governor, Macho union husband champion of an Alkaskan grueling dog sled race numerous times , mother of five kids one has Down Syndrome; big Pro-life testament..every life has meaning. oldest son volunteered to serve his country in a time of need...this woman is a winner and quite cute too..really cute compared to the dried old hack H.

It takes a bit of the novelty out of the Obama camp, too.

Either way, history will be made. Obama isn't unique now.
