I don't think so. Palin's mention of Hillary's name in her acceptance speech did not go over well with the audience. The Clinton's are the most hated and politically feared names one could use in any way positive to a hard core Republican. Doubt she will use Hillary's name in a positive light again.
Yeah but it's just another slap in the face and reminder of the fact that she was not only not elected the nominee to be the first female pres. but worse yet now she was passed over for even the second seat (without even being vetted for it) even though she was first runner up on the campaign trail, I think that is going put an even more bitter taste in teh mouth of her female supporters and further push many of them towards the Rep side... Don't loose sight of the fact that they don't need all of them..

Palin replaced Monegan with Chuck Kopp, dismissing as false allegations that Kopp had sexually harassed a subordinate.[53]
After initially refusing to explain her decision to fire Moneghan, in August Palin explained that she had done so because he had not adequately filled state trooper vacancies, and because he "did not turn out to be a team player on budgeting issues." According to Palin, Moneghan's dismissal was thus unrelated to the fact that he had refused to fire Wooten.[54] Palin said that members of her staff had made contact with public safety officials regarding the trooper, though she said that her staff's contacts with the commission were not directed by her and she had little knowledge of them. She also took disciplinary action against one member of her staff who had mentioned her and Wooten's family connection to Monegan's staff.[55] In August 2008, a bipartisan panel of the Alaska Legislature hired Steve Branchflower to investigate Palin and her staff for possible abuse of power surrounding the dismissal.[56] Democratic State Senator Hollis French, who is overseeing the investigation, says that the Palin administration has been cooperating and that subpoenas are unnecessary.[57]

Sarah Palin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wikpedia is very up to date. Someone from the republican camp must have been busy.
Don't forget this latest wiki update:

Quote:
In 2006, before Palin was governor, Alaska State Trooper Wooten was suspended for ten days after being accused by his ex-wife Molly McCann (Sarah Palin's sister) of threatening to kill McCann's and Palin's father, tasering his 11-year-old stepson (with the childs consent), drinking beer in his squad car, and shooting a moose without a license.[4] Following an investigation, Wooten was suspended for illegally shooting a moose and using a Taser on his stepson, while most of the charges were dismissed.[5] After a union protest, the suspension was reduced to five days, and Wooten was warned by Col. Julia Grimes, head of the Alaska State Troopers, that he would be fired if he messed up again.[4]
Let's see how long this ^ stays up on Wiki before it is edited. Her wiki entry should be very popular these days.

Yep. people born and raised in the North (as was I) learn to hunt, trap, fish, etc. Know why? my point?

the fresh prince posted that she didn't have a passport, but according to the new york times she got it last year. that's why i posted, 'she got it last year'.

and looking at it from a different angle, politico put up this article after i made my post...

Quote:
1. What’s in her passport?
The most intense doubts about Palin flow from a belief that the former mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, does not know enough to be an effective commander in chief.
How much her passport has been stamped does not necessarily speak to that. But if it turns out she has rarely traveled abroad — or has never been to any foreign country other than Canada — this will be seized upon instantly.
George W. Bush, for instance, had to swat away questions in 2000 about his thin travelogue.
Palin’s best hope on the sensitive point of her foreign policy credentials is that expectations for her in the Oct. 8 vice presidential debate in St. Louis against Joe Biden (chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee) are so low that Palin will be able to soar above them.
Media obsession: 5 questions for Palin - John F. Harris - Politico.com

and btw, since palin used to be a local tv sports anchor and a mayor of a tiny town, and not....say.... a tire pressure 'specialist' in the air force, i don't think she would have been able to travel abroad without a passport.

Quote:
SEVEN MONTHS ALONG: Even her staff was unaware that the first family was expecting a fifth child.
By WESLEY LOY

JUNEAU -- Gov. Sarah Palin shocked and awed just about everybody around the Capitol on Wednesday when she announced she's expecting her fifth child.

The governor, who recently turned 44, told a handful of reporters as she was leaving work to expect a new member of the first family, then headed to a reception at the Baranof Hotel to feast on king crab.

Palin said she's already about seven months along, with the baby due to arrive in mid-May.

That the pregnancy is so advanced astonished all who heard the news. The governor, a runner who's always been trim, simply doesn't look pregnant.

Even close members of her staff said they only learned this week their boss was expecting.

"I thought it was becoming obvious," Palin said. "You know, clothes getting snugger and snugger."

But people just couldn't believe the news.

"Really? No!" said Bethel state Rep. Mary Nelson, who is close to giving birth herself.

"It's wonderful. She's very well-disguised," said Senate President Lyda Green, a mother of three who has sometimes sparred with Palin politically. "When I was five months pregnant, there was absolutely no question that I was with child."
Anchorage Daily News

she was in her 7th month, and the people who work with her every day didn't notice she was pregnant?

oh btw, the daughter apparently missed 4-5 months from school....with 'mono'.

Off the top I did not think the Palin choice was a good move, and I am still not sold on it. From a political point of view with the exception of her abortion views, nothing I have seen or read about her give me much of a reason to dislike her. The pick certainly seems to have given the McCain campaign much more media coverage than he was likely to get a Romney or Pawlenty pick.

I don’t think her age or experience will have a drastic impact on things, but I am sure Obama will try to use this. Having someone with little experience on the bottom half of the ticket is not quite the same as having someone with little experience on the top half of the ticket.

Much of the negative I have seen, heard, read has not really been on issues that matter much to me, as they relate to politics – with the exception of her lack of experience.

I think this move was an attempt to pacify the far right (in particular the right to life group) while at the same time being targeted towards Hillary supporters. I think it will shore up McCain support on the far right, and might actually get more of them to vote rather than stay home in Nov. I have my doubts has to how effective this will be in appealing to Hillary supporters. A few of them are going to vote for McCain regardless – simply out of spite. But the vast majority will either stay home, or end up voting for Obama. One thing is for sure I would not have wanted to be in the same building as Hillary when she heard who John boy picked for his VP.

Here is an interesting poll that indicates Palin has actually been a bigger hit with guys than with the ladies.

Surprise? First Two National Polls Find Palin Gains LESS Support from Women

Democratic women - 9% gain for McCain - 15% loss, but let's face it this is blue team women. The 15% less likely were probably not going to vote for him anyway.
Quote:
Here's a finding from Gallup: Among Democratic women -- including those who may be disappointed that Hillary Clinton did not win the Democratic nomination -- 9% say Palin makes them more likely to support McCain, 15% less likely.
Getting a third of the folks saying they are more likely to vote for McCain now ain't all bad. But the negative on her experience is pretty clear.
Quote:
From Rasmussen: Some 38% of men said they were more likely to vote for McCain now, but only 32% of women. By a narrow 41% to 35% margin, men said she was not ready to be president -- but women soundly rejected her, 48% to 25%.
9% is a pretty low number, but these are Obama supporters - not the target of the move. The target right now is independents, and Hillary supporters. I doubt 1% of McCain supporters would have said the Biden pick would make it more likely they would vote for Obama.
Quote:
Only 9% of Obama supporters said they might be more likely to vote for McCain.
Here is where the men let is be known they are still affraid to be labled as sexist.
Quote:
Overall, voters expressed a favorable impression of her by a 53/26 margin, but there was a severe gender gap on this: Men embraced her at 58% to 23%, while for women it was 48/30.
Another bit showing that her lack of experience is probably her weakest point.
Quote:
And by a 29/44 margin, men and women together, they do not believe that she is ready to be President.
These numbers probably reflect not only Palin, but also the effects of the convention - and likely is more than the less likely.
Quote:
As for voters not affiliated with either major party, 37% are more likely to vote for McCain and 28% less likely to do so.
Still pretty early to read anyting into the polls. About the only thing they might gauge is folks off-the-hip response to the McCain pick. And it appears it has been more good than bad.

"but there's a rumor spreading across the internet'

Good reliable source of information.

Well, I do think this changes the race somewhat, in which direction it is probablly too early to tell.

Americans may fall in love with her and really boost McCain's chances, or this could be seen as a last ditch political gamble and will harm McCain's chances.

Time will tell, but Biden will obviously be the man left out in the media coverage now.

Dear Joe Six Pack Public,

Iraq never attacked the US. You were actually safer from an attack by any Iraqis before you invaded their country. Your theory doesn't hold water; are you going to invade every nation on the face of the planet to protect yourselves in the US.

Yours,

A. Citizen
