So I have to accept their are conservative voters. Okay I do. But how the hell can you say that you accept Sarah Palin as a possible president. She knows nothing about geography let alone foreign affairs. She is a religious nutter, who is against abortion in all cases. Add to this she does not believe in Global Warming, supports no changes in the tax structure to make the rich pay. And is strong supporter of continuing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I just cant believe it. It may be real but it breaks my heart what a conservative will do to keep power. Let a female retard run the country. We have had a male one for the last 8 years and look what happened.

well the timing is optimum, Obama's bump for his being the first black candidate has seen it's sell by date come and gone and as they say in a race, which is better? starting off strong or finishing strong?

totally agree, I can't stand it when someone just wins a NASCAR race or some other event and the first thing they say is how basically "God" has made them the most important one on that day and shite all over the other 39 teams for whatever reason..

To think for one minute that should there be a 'god' that it would have even the slightest inclination as to who won such a trivial contest goes way beyond the bounds of arrogance and self importance.

McCain has active melanoma the most dangerous form of skin cancer. He must have a checkup every 3 months. He has also had polyps removed from his colon on several occasions. Add to this he will be the oldest president ever elected and I think you have a decent chance of death during his term.. Something to be thought about.

McCains his own man and there's an entire house and senate to contend with which is also democratically run at the moment I might add, and even if it wasn't, Pentecostals are hardly the majority x'ians and they're beliefs are not nearly wide enough to hypnotise and adveresly effect the rest of the republican base = still over reacting..

Nobody is ignoring anything but did you see his mother the other day? I don't even know how old she is but she looks vital enough to run the country so he has some good genes..
Lance Armstrong (though admittedly not 72, but age isn't much of a factor in such cases) had metastatic testicular cancer and it wasn't a death sentence he still won 7 Tour de France titles following his treatment and trained all the way through riding 20 miles per day.

JFK was only 46 and his VP got us into Vietnam after succession, the point is there is no way of knowing and our primary concern should be the candidates at the front of the ticket first and foremost as everything else is out of our control anyway, anything else is just distractionary and just a detraction away from the real issues at hand.

well stated, but just knowing who is number two is enough for me. She is a joke, and should be considered as one.

I don’t bank on Palin being able to separate church and state, I bank on the supream court to defend that right for me. But those who think that prayer/ church does not already play a role in congress are kidding themselves. The congress has a chaplain and a morning prayer amoung other things that intertwine the two.

Not sure what you mean by situation? The situation of being a devout Pentecostal? I try not to hold one’s religious beliefs against them. This can be especially hard for me as I am an atheist. Try as I might Romney’s religion was one thing that made me have a general negative view of the man. And I try not to hold Palin’s religious views against her.

Is it a factor - yes. But in the heartland of the US I think it will be a positive factor rather than a negative factor. And I think it Obama or Biden try to use her religion as a point of debate they will get raked over the coals for it.

Not sure if you have spent any time out in the heartland of America, espcially in the bible belt (Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Tennesee, etc). But there are millions of Americans that think just the way you feel is over the top - that they way they think people should live their lives is gods will, and as such that is why they choose to live their lives the way they do.

This is not to say I agree with them because I don't. But trying to ignore or belittle this portion of the US population in a national race will make your chances of winning very slim.

I don't look for Obama or Biden to make an issue out of Palin's religion.

fair enough you won't be the only one voting that perception, but in the end the one getting my vote will be the person I have the most faith in regarding their track record, experience and what they are realistically able to accomplish during their term and only secondarily the experience of the second in command and a hypothetical 'what if?'..

No, I have not, but my impression matches your assessment.

Palin was not chosen for her pretty face...

You may well be right there, and I believe this partly explains the fervour with which Palin is being attacked on non-official platforms.

Same for me, and my guy has less of a chance of dying. Statistically. I just cant do anymore hard time. My friends that are business men in the states have always voted republican. But they have kids. Thinking of the future they may very well vote Obama.

No, of course not. I was best man at a friend's wedding down in Clearwater a few years back . . . Southern Baptists . . . I have no problem with religions themselves, only their influence on life in general if it doesn't coincide with my view on life.

I meant the situation of representing a country while espousing her religious values, but you already answered that.

i'd really like to know more about the alleged vetting that took place on palin.

mccain's campaign told a blatant lie about an FBI background check that never took place.

and her local paper confirmed that no one from his campaign searched their archives.

i wonder if they even bothered to google her.

this hausfrau was selected because she's a religious nut and mccain is pandering to the psychotic fundamentalists that hijacked the republican party during the 80s.

real republicans (goldwater, buckley, rockefeller, etc...) are spinning in their graves.

clearly the mccain campaign is desperate to win at any cost......why else would they lie about an FBI background check that never took place?

why would mccain spout off that “she has had national security as one of her primary responsibilities,” even though she's never issued a single command to the alaska national guard.
not a single command.
none.
nada.
zero.
zilch.

why would they nominate this woman at all?

because he's desperate to win.

'country first'?

hardly.

it's all about mccain and his ego.

link for mccain's lie about her alleged national security credentials.
