I recommend putting your money where your very convicted mouth is. Obama is a much less attractive 4/9.odds on favourite. tell william Hills that polling isn't important.

They're hoping to blunt the Dems attack on McBush's policies and make the election be about abortion and other culture war issues. Can they do it? I'm concerned that the Dems have such a small lead, and will somehow manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. | |

| Thailand Travel Forum | The Top 7 Reasons Why Palin Was A Brilliant Choice For VP: 1) She energizes the Right. Palin has done something that no one else has been able to do: for the first time this year, she has managed to energize the Right. How long it will last is unknown, but it's certainly been a nice change from the moping that has occurred since McCain won the nomination. 2) She draws attacks away from McCain. In the end, most of the public will make their decision based on who's going to be President, not the VP. So, the more time the Left and the MSM spend attacking Palin, the less time they have to attack McCain. On the other hand, the Right will be attacking Obama, not Biden. 3) Palin has particular appeal on the Pro-life issue: Palin isn't just pro-life; she talks the talk and walks the walk. She didn't consider aborting her child with Down Syndrome and when her 17 year old daughter became pregnant with a child and decided to keep it, she supported her, which stands in stark opposition to Obama who famously said, "I've got two daughters. 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby." There's a hell of a moral contrast there and it's not one that looks good for Obama. 4) The "scandals" that have been revealed so far have been Mickey-Mouse stuff. Her husband had a drunk driving conviction 20 years ago. So? She wanted a violent thug who mistreated her sister and was a threat to her safety fired -- who wouldn't? How do those scandals compare to say, procuring land for your house in a crooked deal or spending 20 years in a racist, anti-American church? They're pretty small potatoes. 5) The #1 charge the Left has launched at Palin, that she's inexperienced, better applies to their own candidate for President. Palin is more qualified to be the President than Barack Obama, so you just have to smile every time some liberal says, "She'll be a heartbeat away from the presidency." I mean, can't the exact same thing be said about Obama? I mean, what if something happened to Biden and we had Obama in charge and...oh wait, the "heartbeat away" candidate is on top of the Democratic ticket. 6) She will draw Hillary voters: No, most of the ultra-left-wing NOW types probably aren't going to vote for her, but there are plenty of women in the middle who will -- and the more the Left launches misogynistic attacks at her and goes after her family, the more women will probably vote for a McCain/Palin ticket. 7) She evens the score on change: Obama's most appealing factor isn't his policies or his resume; it's the fact that he would be the first black President. Well, now, the McCain campaign has a "first" on their ticket, too. So, it's no longer a question of whether history will be made; it's just a question of which history-making ticket will make it to the White House. Right Wing News (Conservative News and Views)

Ok, tell me about Palin's 'abstinance only policies'. Gimme the outline of the ciriculum so I can see what was taught. I also want to know if it the abstinance program was part of a course which detailed all options. Who coined the term "abstinance only ploicey (ies)" for her program, some left-wing blogger?

| The Reps are handling it really well. Sure, give People an interview, coz the party wants votes from the loonie lefties, and what better place to attract their attention but a supermarket rag, even if it is lefty as well? No other interviews coz they want the country to watch her speech. Why let the press steal their thunder; let the press do their work for a change (even if it's been pretty shoddy)? This is the best media draw ever. Crikes, nobody gives a peanut butter cookie for Obama at the mo. Has anyone asked Hilly what she thinks? Crikes, her handlers must be removing any sharp objects from her private quarters. The dems and their press are really scraping the bottom of the barrel trying to get any traces of dirt on Gov Palin. And I don't see her going out tonight and saying she was born the daughter of coal miners and was the first in her fam to graduate from uni and then says she was in the top half of her class (all lies) and then found to have copied someone else's report verbatim for a uni exam. Oh ya, that was DEM VP nominee Biden who told all those lies and couldn't recollect -- did they vet him for senility or is he just a really big fat liar? Poor Obama, he's trying to attack McCain with his "he just doesn't get it" push and deriding Palin for being a small town mayor (don't forget her governorship, now, BO) -- while he is in charge of a huge campaign and budget. WTF does that have to do with governance? Anyhoo, let's see how the Gov does tonight. How about the lefty fluff and smear papers, CMN? Huff'n'Puff Post, NYT, etc? |

| Where is it written that only senators are qualified to become President?... Or where is it written that mere representatives aren't qualified, like Geraldine Ferraro of Queens?... Where is it written that governors and mayors, like Dianne Feinstein of San Francisco, are too local, too provincial?... Presidential candidates have always chosen their running mates for reasons of practical demography, not idealized democracy?. What a splendid system, we say to ourselves, that takes little-known men, tests them in high office and permits them to grow into statesmen.... Why shouldn't a little-known woman have the same opportunity to grow?... [T]he indispensable credential for a Woman Who [sic] is the same as for a Man Who [sic] ? one who helps the ticket. - New York Times 1984 in support of Geraldine Ferraro's vice presidential nomination |
