VP Picks

OK, now is the time. You can show your political acumen by choosing one VP pick for one or both candidates.

Why will your VP pick be picked. You can also post who will not be picked now.

Obama will not pick Tim Kaine from Virginia. He's too inexperienced in politics and international affairs.

Over to you....

I guess John Edwards is out...
Obama: Biden (chicks are out as Hilly's fans would freak)
McCain: Jindal or Crist (Lieberman will be in admin to tell McCain who is Shiite and who is Sunni; can't have two geriatrics on the slate)

I think you may be right on Obama picking Biden, Jet.

As for McCain, I think Jindal is too young, as he's in his late 30s.

Unfortunately, it's not about who can or cannot do the job but how the VP choice translates to votes.

It's about perception.

That is why Jindal won't be picked. He's too young.

Concede.
I hear Huckabee saying he never excluded Romney for being mormon, but re-raising the religion issue just reminds folks of it. And many folks distrust those guys with seven wives (big lie, but it persists).
Aren't there any nice guys left? Guess Arnie is out as he's not a natural-born. Pity.

he's about half mccain's age, so there is no way jindal is going to be picked....all he is going to do is make mccain look like the doddering old man he is... but i suppose anyone besides methuselah could do that.

and add to that, he's a full-on, reglious lunatic.

here's an excerpt from an article jindal wrote about an exorcism he witnessed...

Quote:
Strangely, I found myself repeating the Hail Mary until it became a chant. Being a recent convert to Catholicism, I had yet to accept the Catholic doctrines concerning Mary and considered any form of Marian devotion to be idolatry. Though I had never before prayed a Hail Mary in my life, I suddenly found myself incapable of any other form of prayer. Somehow, Mary's intercessions allowed me to find peace during that long night; I knew that I had survived the worst and that I would exit with my faith intact. It terrified me to recall how close I came to turning away from Christ out of fear.

The crucifix had a calming effect on Susan, and her sister was soon brave enough to bring a Bible to her face. At first, Susan responded to biblical passages with curses and profanities. Mixed in with her vile attacks were short and desperate pleas for help. In the same breath that she attacked Christ, the Bible's authenticity, and everyone assembled in prayer, Susan would suddenly urge us to rescue her. It appeared as if we were observing a tremendous battle between the Susan we knew and loved and some strange evil force. But the momentum had shifted and we now sensed that victory was at hand.
While Alice and Louise held Susan, her sister continued holding the Bible to her face. Almost taunting the evil spirit that had almost beaten us minutes before, the students dared Susan to read biblical passages. She choked on certain passages and could not finish the sentence "Jesus is Lord." Over and over, she repeated "Jesus is L..L..LL," often ending in profanities. In between her futile attempts, Susan pleaded with us to continue trying and often smiled between the grimaces that accompanied her readings of Scripture. Just as suddenly as she went into the trance, Susan suddenly reappeared and claimed "Jesus is Lord."
With an almost comical smile, Susan then looked up as if awakening from a deep sleep and asked, "Has something happened?" She did not remember any of the past few hours and was startled to find her friends breaking out in cheers and laughter, overwhelmed by sudden joy and relief.

btw, you do realize that jindal doesn't believe in evolution, right?

crist won't be picked because like many republicans, he's a closeted homosexual.

I think we will all be very surprised at the VP picks of both. Often times in the past VPs have not even been mentioned by the pundits prior to selection.

I mentioned in another thread Colin Powell may be coming out to publicly support Obama. If he was "whiter" he would make a great VP.

Here's a real long shot. Madelein Albright!

I don't think Ray was deriding a post. I think he was adding some material and his opinion on Jindal.

He's still too young, IMO.

Still calling me racist after I called the race card as a key election issue? Man, you are so blinkered.

Romney is the most likely choice for McCain.

The choices for BHO are all severely limited due to them all being largely ignonamous. Hillary is his best choice, unfortunately she comes as a two for one Clinton circus.

Historically VPs don't matter much to the minds of voters. Whomever has the image of a good diplomat with plenty of flier miles will probably get the nod.

What about Reagan he needed a work horse VP in the shape of GH Bush to ease electorate worries about his age and quickly degenerating mental health.

One point to add about VP picks, are that a certain percentage of VPs become Presidents, historically.

If George H. Bush was not chosen by Reagan as his VP, would G.H. Bush have become President? Speculation, but not likely, IMO.

And then the former President GHB has his son GWB on a Presidential family platform.

Many people think Reagan's biggest mistake was choosing G.H. Bush as VP over, Laxalt.

It seems to me that O'Bama currently has a lot of support from various groups, all of whom would,be offended if he didn't choose one of them as VP.

He has to choose the VP who will cause the least of his supporters to vote Republican by way of a protest vote. He has already driven some women in this direction by defeating Hillary. The damage is already done insofar as women are concerned, so he will probably choose a male VP, but who?

The choice needs to be white as any non-whites will already have made up their minds whether they like Obama or not. He may also have difficulty choosing a VP who is older than himself as it will make him appear less experienced than the VP.

This leaves him with a young inexperienced male VP and he will be screwed into the ground by the Republicans on the exerience issue, which is preceisely where McCain has been hitting him.

Personally I think the choice now is worse than 2004. A naive smiling Christian bible-thumper who wants to make American workers pay for free healthcare for the unemployed whilst eradicating world poverty, or a greater war monger than Bush.

Hehe dunno where the apostrophe came from.

I suppose O'Bama could get the Irish vote.
