Norm Coleman Concedes, Welcomes Sen. Franken

Well he was big enough about it and did say they all needed to come together. Good for him and good luck fishing?

At the end of the video they are talking about senators for the Dems (that might vote along party lines),……….there are now 58 Dems and 2 Independents and they forgot/forget to mention Specter (switched party affiliation) which would make it a total of 61 senators.

    Rock Bottom

This is what it's come to:

A failed ultra-left talk show host and former second-rate professional clown, known for his extreme obnoxiousness, cheating on his taxes, and failing to take out worker's comp for his employees has been installed in the position of United States Senator. If Barack Hussein Obama can be President, why not?

^ Did you see his wife? Holy smoke. If he was Republican, the comedians would have a field day.

It’s not at easy as that. Remember 2 Dems haven’t been voting as of late due to health problems. As for some other Dems, just following the leader is not the case. I see difficult times trying to get legislation passed because of their own doing.

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) on Wednesday said for the first time that she is prepared to resign her Senate seat in October or November, paving the way for a May 2009 special election to replace her.

Hutchison, who would resign her seat in order to focus on campaigning for governor, said in a radio interview with a Dallas-Fort Worth station that she couldn’t stay in office and wage the kind of campaign she wanted.

ya think the Dems could get something passed, now?

Rand Paul (Ron Paul's son) is running for the senate. Wow.

Rand Paul, son of former presidential candidate and Texas Rep. Ron Paul, officially entered the Kentucky Senate race today to replace retiring Republican Sen. Jim Bunning.

In an e-mail to supporters sent this afternoon, the Republican ophthalmologist said the twin issues of federal spending and the national debt pushed him to run for office. This would be the younger Paul's first elected office.

"I think we're drowning in a sea of debt, as a country," Paul said in the e-mail. "The deficit this year will be 13% of the [gross national product]. This is a historic high. The danger is going to be inflation within a year or two, and prices may rise rapidly."

    errr...does rand ( ) have a time machine?

because if not, he'll never have anything to do with the senate elections of 2008.

and here's a prediction.....the closest rand (sorry, have to do it again.. ) will ever get to the senate is if he visits his dad in the house.

CNN just reported that Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL), who wasn't running for reelection next year, "has actually resigned his seat." Governor Charlie Crist, who is already running for the seat, gets to appoint a replacement.

But before he did go,..yesterday he voted For Sotomayor

a senator election 2010 thread should be started,..but maybe it's too soon

till then here is some news that isn't too good,...........

After a couple of relatively quiet months, the Senate race rankings have undergone a fairly major shakeup, with 15 distinct contests receiving an upgrade or a downgrade based on a combination of local and national circumstances. Most of these changes favor Republicans -- 7 of the 10 upgrades (meaning that a party switch is now more likely) were made to Democratic-held seats; 4 of the 5 downgrades were made to Republican-held seats. While there are still plenty of opportunities for the Democrats in the Senate, I believe that the Republicans are now slightly more likely to gain seats than to lose them, potentially threatening the Democrats' supposed filibuster-proof majority.

Races are ranked in order of their likelihood of changing parties (by November 2010, accounting for all factors such as potential retirements, primary challenges, and so forth).
