| » Getting from Ladprao/Ramkamhaeng Uni to Sathorn by boat? | |
Nov 24, 2008 - 12:44 AM - by TheWayUp |
Hi,
My partner studies at Ramkamhaeng Uni, and lives nearby on Ladprao 122, but has a new job across the city, near the Saphan Taksin pier (a long commute I know, but that can be normal for Bangkok residents).
Does anyone know if it's possible to use the canal network to get from Ladprao 122 (where there's a small pier) to Saphan Taksin, and if so, is this quicker than taking a bus and the skytrain. Thanks!

This thread is to bust all the nutritional and diet myths out there. There is so much crap on the web that I have weeded through that has been totally proven false.
Sorry, don't ask me for links, as this is a compilation of internet, magazine and book research that I have done.

Nov 23, 2008 - 7:57 PM - by Nawty | Taman Negara is the oldest and largest National park in Malaysia I believe. It is about 4 hours north of KL. Now, I contemplated getting a car and driver for this trip as I did not want to park a hire car up in the carpark just sitting there for 3 or 4 days. Prices for a car and driver were around 550mr and I figured that was kinda ridiculous for a 4 hour trip. One taxi dude came down to 450mr and then called back and asked what I was happy to pay. But by then we had made other... [Read More]

Nov 23, 2008 - 6:46 PM - by dirtydog |
So the old rowing competition was on today in Maprachan but on the way back I thought I would sample one of the bars on Pattayas darkside, now they got some real great ones like the Butterfly Bar or Black Pearl 2, and they got some real cruddy ones, this one is listed under "Cruddy", the girls are all older than your parents, well not blackgangs parents but they are bloody old, hell, I was the youngest person in the bar and I was the only one not trying to prostitute myself.
But i got some real bad news to tell you all, it aint so bad for me as I have another 12 or more years to go, but speaking to the girls there once a guy gets to 55 his knob don't work no more, yep... [Read More]

Nov 23, 2008 - 8:35 AM - by hillbilly |
There is nothing like a good pizza and an exciting movie on a Saturday night. Since I am waiting for the family to arrive, this is exactly what I did.
First, I had to start with the pizza. Now American is known for its outstanding pizza and since money was no object, I decided to go all out.
Having decided not to worry about the budget, I spent $1.29 on this frozen pizza.
Since I had gone overboard with my budget, I decided to read the... [Read More]

Nov 23, 2008 - 6:17 AM - by Jet Gorgon |
I'm setting off shopping and I want to make fish cakes from a huge chunk of salmon I have left over from last night. (I made al fredo sauce with some; pretty OK).
So, based on my memory or lack thereof, I'm going to do this:
2 C fresh salmon (leftover portion from the freezer)
2 C mashed potatoes
diced onion
2 eggs
S&P, soya sauce
bread crumbs (I might smash up some All Bran and Triscuits in there)
Cut up the salmon and saute in butter with onions and SP. Mash up and let cool.
Beat one egg, add some soya sauce and mix in with the salmon stuff and the potatoes with some bread crumbs.. Fashion into patties. Dip... [Read More]
60 Views | » Which visa would be best for me?
Nov 23, 2008 - 3:14 AM - by NIGHTFR8
Hi, I've been married to my Thai wife for 33 years and in four years we will be retiring and plan to spend 6 months in "The Land of Smiles" and 6 months in America per year. We already own a home in Ubon which we vist once a year "wish it was more". I know I'll be needing a long stay visa and I'm wondering which visa would be the best for me, the 400,000/800,000 baht in the bank is not a factor. As I'll be retired, I'd like to do as little paperwork as possible "relative term" for the visa. If it makes a difference I have no plans on working, only relaxing and enjoying whatever life has left for me. I think that the nearest immigrations office is in Phibon... [Read More]
83 Views | » Family full of praise for wonderful help
Nov 22, 2008 - 11:14 PM - by hillbilly | The parents of Robbie Palmer had to borrow thousands and thousands of pounds to bring their son home from Thailand to die.
The family estimate they spent £120,000 in total and they now want to pay back those who helped them in their hour of need.
Today they pay tribute to the generosity of their 'unbelievable' family and friends who rallied round to support them during the toughest time of their lives.
Jeanette, 55, and Bob Palmer, 60, borrowed the money from their family so they could bring the popular 31-year-old back home to Portsmouth, giving his mates a chance to say a final goodbye.
Speaking at the family's home in... [Read More]

First, I just want to say that I didn't take these photos. They were taken 4 years ago by an Irish lady who came to visit our dog center. She had been fascinated by the way the poorer Thais and the soi dogs co-exist together & taken photos. She also took many photos of our dogs & gave me a CD containing all the pics.
I found it the other day, while searching for a pic of one of our adults as a pup. When I looked at the photos, I thought they were really good and might be appreciated here. I really hope she wouldn't mind me sharing them...

First, they refuse to acknowledge Israel's existence. Then, they log on to a website that's doubly forbidden: Not only is it Israeli--it's Israeli porn. Who are these seekers of sexy skin? Oh, just a few hundred thousand (at least) Arabs in countries like Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Iraq, and if you ask me, they're exhibiting some kind of newfangled Madonna and the Whore complex.
"I hate Israel and will beat her down...or at least, beat off to her lovely ladies!" The fact that some of these countries even go so far as to block the Israeli ".il" domain isn't slowing these sneaky porn rats down, either.... [Read More]
