| Polls are merely inferential statistics that describe current inclination of potential voters. You're right that the campaigns pay attention to them. Too much in my opinion. It's called pandering. Either candidate will make a fine president. Bush is an easy act to follow. I think the Cubs will win the World Series. Last edited by Texpat : 24-07-2008 at 12:44 PM. |

| ^Funny you should ask. I went looking and sure enough, found proof. The Chicago Cubs will win the 2008 World Series The Big Picture: The Chicago Cubs will win the 2008 World Series Worry not, friends. That headline is not misleading. It's fact. Courtesy of our one-time nemesis, the geometric proof, we will prove that the Chicago Cubs will win the 2008 World Series. Given: The Cubs (36-21) are the best team in Major League Baseball The last time the Cubs had the best record in baseball this late in the season was 1908 The Cubs won the World Series in 1908 Prove: The Chicago Cubs will win the 2008 World Series Statements 1. The Cubs are the best team in Major League Baseball 2. The last time the Cubs had the best record in baseball this late in the season was 1908 3. The Cubs won the World Series in 1908 4. History repeats itself in 100-year intervals 5. The Chicago Cubs will win the 2008 World Series Reasons 1. Given 2. Given 3. Given 4. 100 is a magic number with supernatural powers that transcend external elements 5. Because we said so There. Proof. Extrapolated by Texpat: Obama is the best presidential candidate Obama is winning in today's polls by a whisker. This is the first time Obama has been ahead of McCain so late in a presidential race. Therefore Obama will be the next US president. |

She says the Blue Jays will take the Series. Anyhoo, I love this German Obama doll. It reminds me of Aunt Jemima's brother with a flag lapel pin. ![]() | ||

| of course it's still quite early, but if the election were held today, obama would win for any number of reasons, including: 1. he has a vision for the future of america that isn't tied to the politics of fear 2. he's a smart and capable leader 3. he's not a 70 year old man 4. bush/cheney have practically destroyed the republican brand

| Did not vote in this poll, but unless something rather big happens between now and Nov, I think Obama will win. I want McCain to win, but the combination of Obama’s charm and the damage done by the Bush/Cheney duo will make it quite difficult for McCain to win out in November. But there is still alot of time left and anything can happen. Who knows GW could fire up another war somewhere else. Maybe instead of offshore drilling around the US he'll just invade Venezuela.

| Am I correct in understanding that this is a survey as to whom we think is going to be the next pres of the US not whom we want to be pres or whom we are planning on voting for. There is a distinct difference. |

| He's not just running for President - he will be the leader of the free world. 200K people in Berlin listening to him. Crazy but it shows that a vast vast majority of the people of the free world want this guy to be the leader. |

| Sadly, the world wants a snazzy new leader. Euro folks like socialist types and hey, BO is cute and he is trained in attracting the masses. But why change world opinion? Kowtow to other countries at the risk of US interests? I heard his speeches over there, emphasising US stuff comes first. Dunno, think he is a consummate actor. |
