^ WTF? You want a person convicted of rape, child molesting/rape/murder to have a vote? Ya, that's the lefty way. They can be rehabilitated. Maybe a few, but not many.
Forget it. Shoot 'em and let them come back as cockroaches in a Thai takeaway stall. Squish.

OK Jet, as a matter in interest, can you answer which crimes you would consider that the offender is unable to be rehabilitated, or not sufficiently punished by whatever was meted out by the Courts, to not warrent being able to take part in the democratic process:

1. Murder;
2. Rape;
3. Arsen;
4. Assault;
5. Illegal possession of a firearm;
6. Fly Tipping;
7. Graffiti;
8. Vandalism;
9. Drink Driving;
10. Possession of cannabis.

Thank you. As an addition, if you would like to suggest which of the above crimes are worthy of the shooting option you suggested, could you indicate that next the corresponding number also.

Uh oh. How could he slip up like that when the Dems say he is soooo much more intelligent than McC? I think Obama's interview with O'Reilly shook him up -- did you notice how many times Obama slapped O'Reilly's knee during that show? "C'mon, you know..blah blah" That's a physical move you use when you know your reasoning is imperfect and you need to add a bit of body contact for the palsy walsy effect, kinda like used car salesmen when they try to sell you a lemon.

^ Sorry, BA, should have clarified.
Any felony. If you choose to commit a serious offence, then I believe your voting rights should be rescinded. Misdemeanours -- well, a US president can be impeached for misdemeanours. Although in Clinton's case, I wouldn't say obstruction of justice, perjury and abuse of office were misdemeanours. The Dem senators got him off anyway.

^So would it be OK to peruse the list of crimes and adjudicate thus. I am interested to know what type of crime renders one disenfranchised...

Ask that to a mother of a child who was tortured, raped and killed -- and the guy gets out of jail. Or the children of an elderly mother beaten, robbed and sliced up with a knife and the perp gets out of jail. Or the nice family neighbourhood where a released child molester decides to move to.
Disenfranchised? Too bad; you commit a felony, you should pay. There are halfway homes that taxpayers fund (after they pay for the perp's imprisonment) to help people rehabilitate. But give them the vote? No way.

^Yes, but is there any chance you could address the other crimes in the list?

^There is no such definition. I don't get why you can't simply indicate those that are and those that are not from my list. I mean, you were confident about disenfranchising certain criminals, so tell us which ones...

Some of these can be felonies depending on the circumstances. But some are regardless.

1, 2, 3 - all are pretty much a felony regardless.

4 - assult is not - has to be agrivated assault. Mainly because stepping on someone's toes now days can get you an assault conviction.

5 - generally this is not a felony, as far as I know. Might be in some cases - assult rifle, explosives, etc that might rate - not sure. But anyone that has previously been convicted of a felony can not own/ possess a firearm. If they are found in possesion of a firearm then it does become a felony offense.

6 - no

7,8 - not aware of anything that would rate a felony. But I would not be surprised to heard that if damage in excess of a certain dollar amount would rate either of these as a felony offense.

9 - basic offense not a felony. Repeat offenses or a DUI coupled with other damage/ accident can rate as a felony.

10 - As far as I know possession is not a felony in any state. But possession with intent to sell/ distribute generally is a felony. Typically the difference between the two is the volume one is in possession of at the time they are caught.

Most of the time the distintion will vary somewhat from state to state.

^Thank you bugs.

Interesting, so a DUI with damage to another vehicle is a felony and this then means that the offender is never able to participate in elections again, right?
