| Tounguin for a beer. | I was hoping to watch some news this morning but for some reason CNN and BBC are only showing some Americans singing and dancing about a politician and everyone is talking like they had way too much coffee. It's funny, the whole thing looks like it was done by aliens.

| IMHO the blue team just wasted the first night of their show. Not all that moving and too much of a touchy feely show and not enough meat. The Michelle speech was ok, but nothing earth shattering. Better than I expected but not as good as it needed to be. She covered up her arms, and I did not see a fist punch (she might have done it but I was mainly listening and not really watching much of it - other things to do and all). Hours of TV time and hardly any Bush bashing? IMHO they need to hammer Bush, Bush, Bush and tie McCain to Bush as much as possible. That is their strongest play and I did not see enough of it on day one. The Teddy bit was the high point, and the Michelle bit was almost an anti-climax. Watched Larry King live the other day with Bill Maher and Bill had an interesting play on the Obama move towards the center after the primary. Bill felt the Obama move towards the center actually hurts him. He felt the move makes the blue team look like red team light, and gives the red team’s positions more credibility. Thus leading many voters to view Obama as lacking confidence in his own positions, and lacking the conviction to stand by them.

| Biden looks too much like McCain. A stodgy, old white-haired guy. I keep thinking that's what BO's trying to run from, and now he's embracing it on stage. wtf? I know it's a move to fill his experience gap, but wouldn't a woman or a latino or a sock puppet be better than an old frumpy white career senator? |

Biden, most importantly, has foreign policy experience and 3 decades in Washington. He knows how things work. And also important, is that he is....and older generation, white haired, white guy.

The Dems need a compelling message that show a vote for McCain is a vote for continueing GWB policies which by any measure show one of the worst "satisfaction" levels ever for a US President.

To what degree Obama will be successful in bringing "change" remains to be seen but given his success so far he is quite capable of doing so. | |

| Clinton gave a decent speech, and all in all I think the blue team had a pretty good night, much better than first night. It will be interesting to see if the Clinton speech will have any real impact on getting most of her supports on board with Obama? Obama will get the true blue out of her supporters no matter what (worst case some of them will simply stay home on election day). But the rest of the lot are not a shoe in to vote for Obama, or even to bother voting. Like I said the Clinton speech was good, but all the nice talk only goes so far, and so far it has been pretty clear there is still bad blood between the Clinton’s and the Obama’s. Clinton will have to continue to not only talk the talk, but to walk the walk as well. IMHO some of the Clinton supporter are taking their lead from Billy-bob and not Hillary. They view Billy-boy as showing the true feelings the Clintons have for Obama, and if he is not present for the Obama acceptance speech there will be lingering doubts about both Clintons support for da’ man. | I was thinking the same thing today, Chinthee. Maybe an Obama / Clinton ticket is the only way OB would have won. Every democrat everywhere would be lining up to vote. |

| Yoo hoo! Here's Jettie! I think I said the same thing about Clinty last week. ray will surely look it up for us. I enjoyed watching Billy bob laughing at some points of Hillde's speech. He really hates BO, IMO. I wonder if he will vote McC? |

| He said yesterday on CNN TV -- Would you rather have as president a guy who you agree with on almost everything-- who you have no confidence in getting anything done or a guy you agree with on half the issues who will get things accomplished? Kinda says it all for me on where William Jefferson comes down on this election ... I still think he was a good prez. |
