Wild, Wild, West - man kills burglars in TX
Like'm or loath'm folks in Texas are a breed apart.

Just months after Texas changed the law to expand the rights of citizens to use deadly force to protect not only themselves but property as well, Joe Horn shots and kills two blokes who had just robbed his neighbors house. And he did bascially while on the phone with 911.

Incident happened late last year, and Mr. Horn was just recently cleared by the grand jury.

Texans along with several other states are a breed apart. Shoot first, ask questions later. A trait a well known Texas politician seems to have deeply ingrained in his behavior.

I agree with Norton. Texas does have a different mentality than other states. I've never lived there. Just travelled through the state to see some places, but I've known quite a few folks from Texas.

I think the guy that shot them did the right thing - but - in the future, there may likely be shootings of innocent people who are mistaken for being criminals are damaging or stealing property.

Being legally allowed to shoot people over property can lead to a very slippery slope.

Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas are all the same genis.

And I think that Texans are mentally adequate to handle such laws without going over the top.
If they had had strict gun control like the limeys and then turned lose with guns I sure would find a different place to live.
So if they ever let Brits have all the guns they want, look the fuck out.

I have some mixed feelings on these laws. This mans actions as a stand-alone point, I got no issues with. And I don't really have a problem with the premise of shooting or killing over property - as opposed to only in self-defense.

But I think laws that allow this type of behavior also open the public up to blatant abuse and ending up with too many innocent folks being hurt or killed in the long run.

I believe laws that curtail an individual's freedom to choose whether or not to be able to defend one's self are evil. What blatant abuse? The guy was defending himself?

I still believe that those folks that were raised with guns and their use will be OK with it and that law and this incident happened quite some time ago so you should already be seeing over reaction if it were to be.
I lived there sometime ago and in saloons and even beer bars most of the barkeeps were armed by actually having one in a belt holster or a couple laying on the back bar and there was no people being shot just for the hell of it.

Hey, I was drawing comparisons between states where people consider themselves special and outside of the federal law, MM. That's why I added the Arkansa hillbilly comparison to the Texans.

It's a state law of Texas, that went to the USSC.

The incident happened in the suburb of Pasadena, outside Houston. Houston is the 4th largest city in the US.
