I worked with dealerships in the past. Many used car saleman are not savvy, IMO. As for comparing Obama with a used car salesman, I don't view him in this way.

Doesn't have quite the ring "Slick Willy" had. Slick Obama will hardly do. We need something much more catchy!

How do you mean slick? Can you name some examples?

I'm not challenging your use of the term "slick," but it's not very specific.

^ 555555555 You rascal, you, BG.
MM, I meant slick in the sense that he slithers out of anything he doesn't want to address, rather than taking it on. Sure, all politicians do it to some extent, but he seems to master it. Smooth talker and charmer, and he knows it.

Didn't want to muddy up the main 2008 thread and generally speaking this type of thing is ripe for the red team to use as smear material. But the Obama team ain't doing themselves any favors when things like this happen:
Muslims barred from picture at Obama event - Ben Smith - Politico.com

Quote:
Muslims barred from picture at Obama event
Two muslim women at Barack Obama's rally in Detroit on Monday were barred from sitting behind the podium by campaign volunteers seeking to prevent the women's headscarves from appearing in photographs or on television with the candidate.
A tricky thing for the Obama team to handle now. Sure he will make some nicey, nice apologies. But if they do any kind of personal meet and greet with the two shunned ladies or allow them some front row seating somewhere else just think of the photo op this would become for the red team smear team. Just imagine the type of e-mails with photos of Obama apoligizing to two muslims wearing headscaves that would soon be slung around the internet.

Not that it will require a photo shoot of any kind. Those with little else to do and a bone to pick over Obama and/or muslims will no doubt do a bit of photoshop work and have some kind of Obama/headscarf related picks floating around cyber world in no time.

^ if they were wearing headscarves, as opposed to those full face veils, I think he missed an opportunity. They should have been welcomed to sit there, and yes, he should have greeted at least one of them. The predictable right wing response would then have just cast them further into the dark ages in most peoples minds. Or do I overestimate the electorate? I suppose they're playing safe.

McCain could win a great "fist punch" by getting a few scarf women in his campaign crowds. No fear of the viewers associating him with being a muslim.
As an aside, I noticed that rc does know how to use the caps key. Guess he's onto lesson 1 part b of English grammar.
