back on topic....

obama gave a very impressive speech this morning in philadelphia where he addressed the subject of race in america, and the controversial comments made by the primary subject of this thread.
IMO it was at the same time thoughtful, honest and challenging. i'm sure the bloggers and fauxnews will continue to attempt to fan the flames on this 'scandal', but most americans will instead be looking to either put it behind them---or as obama himself implored, use it as an opportunity to take a hard look at race in america and how the nation can move forward in a more unified manner.

When Don Imus was run off for his so-call 'inflamatory' speech re the girls basketball team, Obamarama stated he would not want his little girls listening to such talk. So, when this POS 'preacher' spews hate-filled sermons and Obamaram's daughters are in the congregation listening to "Go_damn America' etc...it don't work both ways...

And I confess that if all that I knew of Reverend Wright were the snippets of those sermons that have run in an endless loop on the television and You Tube, or if Trinity United Church of Christ conformed to the caricatures being peddled by some commentators, there is no doubt that I would react in much the same way

But the truth is, that isn’t all that I know of the man. The man I met more than twenty years ago is a man who helped introduce me to my Christian faith, a man who spoke to me about our obligations to love one another; to care for the sick and lift up the poor. He is a man who served his country as a U.S. Marine; who has studied and lectured at some of the finest universities and seminaries in the country, and who for over thirty years led a church that serves the community by doing God’s work here on Earth – by housing the homeless, ministering to the needy, providing day care services and scholarships and prison ministries, and reaching out to those suffering from HIV/AIDS.

and by the way, he wrote the speech himself. the current occupant of 1600 pennsylvania avenue couldn't pronounce some of the words in that speech much less write them.

boon mee, do you attend religious services? if so, are you responsible for everything the pastor/rabbi/imam says? is it not possible for someone to disagree with the political views of his/her pastor?

what you haven't realized yet (because you haven't read it on some blog) is that obama's speech has effectively neutralized this rabid ight wing generated media storm. responsible people will no longer be distracted by this spectacle. sorry, you're going to have to find something else about obama to hate and demonize.

and if you really think that this 'scandal' is going to have any influence on the general election (which is more than 6 months from now) you're even less politically astute than i previously thought...and that's no small feat.

he wrote both of his books (practically unheard for politicians) and it was widely reported that he wrote this speech over the weekend. but no, i wasn't there to see him write it.

I find nothing threating about him and "almost" still feel he is the best of the 3 candidates to pull America out of the toilet Bush & Company has put the country in.

The fact still remains if any other candidate aligned themselves with a rabid racist like Rev Wright and his recently exposed comments it would be the end of their political career.

Many threads, even the "how old are you?" thread ended being calling people names.

Many threads have been turned into playground insults and a few posters (not me or Ray) have reported the posts.

You can trust me.

I just noticed the same thing happening and so will watch and see if it is only mine or the offencive posts by Ray Baby are also dumped, he does get off on being a nasty prick, and seems to get away with it.
