^Hey Stroll, you ever been to a housing project? Or a black ghetto like Watts in LA? Harlem's OK in some areas (I used to go to galleries there), but I sure as hell would not go to the Bronx. You a honky you can't even go to these places in the daytime. Compare UK ghettos in Birmingham and (sorry, I forget the other cities English friends told me about). And how bout Brixton? Mind, I used to go to the Fridge (fab R&B) and I saw an excellent play on Josephine Baker at a small theatre there.

Anyway, I like Levitt's theory in Freakonomics that crime rates have fallen since the Roe v Wade decision that legalised abortion in the US in 73. ie, most abortion cases are for low-econ cases...

I lived in Brixton for 2 years. Great place. Are you trying to say it's some kind of dangerous ghetto, that'll come as a shock to the middle-class sociologists and art-students who make up much of the population there. There are dangerous housing projects in England, sure, they've got a mix of people living in them. I don't see how it relates to race.

No, you have changed the subject. I have never claimed it would not be dangerous for me or another White guy to show their face in a black ghetto in the US.

I've lived in the District of Columbia (DC) Los Angeles, and have been to places like Baltimore and New Orleans.

The black community areas with problems need to be addressed by the blacks themselves. If a neighborhood is "bad" it's because the people are "bad."

People make neighborhoods.

If they stop the violence and throw garbage in the trash can, I'll go into these areas more often.

Until then I, and business, will stay out of them.

Why do you ask?
Could the answer make any difference to the claim that whites don't dare criticise the "black community" because of the many (high portion of) criminals and welfare recipients there?

I lived in coloured or mixed areas in Leeds and London (I was an immigrant as well), and frequented pubs which were no-go areas for police, and did my jogging in "muggers park".
Any problems? Yeah, sometimes. Not been hurt though.
Was more afraid of the Irish gangs which ruled some estates to be honest.
