Ah, gotcha. The old richest nation in the world can't do anything right thread.

Does it make you feel better? It's OK, we understand. But you still can't join.

Doesn't TD have a Canadian Issues sub forum?

Oh...they don't? Shame. Wonder why.

Not that I'm aware of.

We don't get many hurricanes up here in Canada

If I were an American I'd think twice about living anywhere on the Gulf Coast.

They have some really good oysters in Florida. Cheap too.

Isn't San-Francisco due for another big quake? Full of gays though. And they probably vote Democrat.

What the fuck is wrong with you people.

Where you live do they pamper and take care of you because you are so fucking useless that you can not look after yourselves and do anything for yourself and they do it all for you.

I made a post about what happen in my life and what we did to get by.
Is it changed so much in 70 years that you have just became useless drones and drugs on society.?

If that is the case then it would be better for the murder rate to increase 10 fold and do away with all of you worthless assholes.

And by the way, keep your worthless ass out of the USA cause from what you say, she has to many of you already..

The USA was built by Doing people, not by do for me people.

Yep. Tex and Boonie got it right, IMO. I do think the rescue was feked, but hey, get on with it. Everybody has probs. The losers sit there waiting for a handout, the doers go make it happen. I do not cry for the losers anymo.

^^Easy big fellah.
These poking posters aren't part of the choir. And they're way out of tune.

Evidently, where they're from it's commonplace to provide housing, food and assistance to hundreds of thousands of folks 2.5 years after a natural disaster. Says more about their work ethic, self-reliance and internal constitution than it does about us.

But yet ... they're consumed with this continious commentary of all things American. Odd.

Better prepared. That's good Hootad. Please join my bil on the couch.

Lemmesee, west coast Canada and down thru California -- we're on the San Andreas earthquake fault line, aren't we? You got insurance for that, Hoot? Read the fine print -- covered except for acts of god and his ilk.

You have to take care of you and yours. I never expect the gov to do it for me. You want to give away your tax dollars to welfare cases, fine. I'd kill myself before I ever begged for a handout. My folks went thru the Depression and eked out a living. I help alot of people anonymously. But, you got an able mind and/or body, you go to work. End of story.

I've never collected welfare or employment insurance nor relief supplies of any kind. Mind you, I've never been struck by a natural disaster. Is there really no such thing as earthquake insurance?

Anyway, what will happen to the children of these people? If a family has to go live under a bridge, for example, surely the children won't be living with them?

Who gives a shit? If they haven't been able to collect their insurance check and relocate, enroll their children in a new school, find a new job, settle down -- in 30 months, they're never going to. They're simply waiting for the gravy train to rumble to a stop when they'll start crying foul. Their GOVERNMENT hasn't taken care of them.

Ask these layabouts how much longer they'll need and it's like hearding cats. They want to be babied in a country that prides itself on self reliance.

Sorry Elmer and Boceiphus, go get a fucking job. The game's up. I hear Canada will be sympathetic to your plight.

Do they get any help with job retraining? Up here you can get that if you're on Employment Insurance or welfare.

Actually my neck of the woods is doing its bit for Katrina victims, but these people are the wrong species (and family/genus):
Quote:
Orphaned pit bulls from Hurricane Katrina get Gulf Island to themselves

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

Call it Survivor Island for Pit Bulls.

Alberta vet Pilar Gosselin wanted a place for her pit bulls, who were Hurricane Katrina survivors, so she bought an island.

The place, Rabbit Island, off the Sunshine Coast, is going to the dogs -- among them Katrina, Rippie, Louie and Fay.

"It makes sense for the rescued dogs. They can run around and not irritate the neighbourhood," Gosselin said yesterday.

The pit bulls are among 30 dogs that Gosselin rescued in the aftermath of the devastating 2005 hurricane in New Orleans.

The dogs were in bad shape when she found them by the side of an Alabama road, sweltering in crates.

"The dogs suffered tremendously. It was a life-changing experience. I am committed to making their lives better," she said.

She and veterinarian Dave Brace, her life partner, sheltered homeless animals wandering around after the storm.

The 30 dogs were brought back to Alberta and 23 were adopted out. Gosselin calls the four pit bulls among the seven that remain the "special-needs cases."

"They're great with people and they get along with some dogs, but not all. They're not off-leash dogs," said Gosselin, 40, who runs a veterinary practice in Canmore with Brace.

The pair recently bought the 14-hectare island, off the south end of Texada and Lasqueti islands, along with Calgary vet Dave Szentimrey. The rabbit-less isle -- named because it looks like a crouching hare from the air -- cost $2.2 million.

The island refuge, formerly a field research base for California's Orange Coast College, has a dining hall, bathhouse and accommodation for 18 in four cabins.

There is solar and wind power, a generator and desalinating unit
.

The dogs will be kept away from deer, sea lions and eagles in the area.

"They are our pets and, as such, will always have supervision. They are not allowed to chase wildlife of any kind," said Gosselin.

She plans to maintain the island's environmentally friendly style and rent it out to student groups. None of the investors have children.

For the present, the dogs will come for month-long visits a couple of times a year.

Lucky dogs!

I guarrandamtee they've been offered training, relocation, all kinds of shit.

It ain't in their nature to move or do anything but wait out the freebees. They'll be spurred to action only when the umbillical is cut.

Sooner the better. I'm sure your society has people like this. The only difference is that we don't lurk along the sidelines, haranging your government for doing the responsible thing.

We're secure in ourselves.

When FEMA offered and Noggin and the cvnt gov of Louisiana refused the help, then they should have said, OK the ball is in your court,, G'Day motherfuckers, and went away and never talked to them again.

Look at the rest of the Gulf Coast, they were hit as bad as NOLA, But they are also up and running..

You just don't get it do you?
I might be a smidgn sympathetic if this all happened a few weeks or even months ago. It's been two and a half YEARS and these poor bastards still can't find the wherewithall to get their shit together.

Sorry boys, game's up.

Some of the services that have been available for years...
Many more on the web, but you knew that ... chosing instead to ignore it and poke at the richest nation on earth that is incapable of bailing out its slackers for 2.5 years.

Fek, thanks, Tex, we got enough welfare losers here already. Pullllllease, don't send anymo.

Ya, those vets (from Canmore, a Rocky Mountain real estate area that's costlier than Manhattan) buy an island for $2.2 mil for pit bulls rescued from the Katrina struck area. Fek, the Canadian vets are doing OK, huh, Hootad. Why not shift a bunch of homeless people there and let them build a fekin organic food commune. Interesting, they buy the island for these pit bulls that almost everyone hates and they will only take the dogs there for a monthly vacation every year. Canadian ideals are feked.
