I don't think so. Wanting to help or make a positive difference does not make you one of this stereotype you refer to- the Obamas are obviously anything but. Coming up with ideas and initiatives instead of the current policy vacuum is not a bad thing either.

Hers the simplistic line of reasoning I am seeing from the Right-

The Obamas are Black
They will therefore sympathise with other Blacks
So they will throw money at other Blacks
The White man will end up paying for it with higher taxes.
But the Blacks will remain just the same.

There are plenty of people out there that do not fit your narrow stereotype, and who better than them to provide leadership and a role model to those who do?

Here is the simplistic line of reasoning I am seeing from the Right:
Obama's platform does not fit with our views
Therefore we ain't going to vote for him - no matter what fookn' color he is or if his wife is racist or not

I really do not know if what you are hearing is what he is really saying tho.
Most of the time he says things that seem to be structured just so, then other times he says things that you can tell just happen to pop up, which would make them seem really his ideas and words, but then they have to go back over them and double talk for a few days to get you to forget he ever said that.

Then the BUGS did come up with a very eloquent way of saying what I think.

Did you know the average male is 6 inches long, and the average female is 8 inches deep? So in New York City alone there is over 3 miles of unused pussy!

why are the racists on this forum unable to admit that their major problem with candidate obama is that he's not white?

Y'all could be me? Yes he's spinning. First statement pretty much the truth. The spin, also the truth but worded differently.

If I may paraphrase, McCain..I really can't say I know much about the economy. The following week...I have been involved in economic issues though my entire career and can assure you I know plenty about economy. Spin or outright conflicting statements?

Ah, so it wasn't a question, thanks for admitting your mistake.

There are several responses to it in the thread concerned, btw.

Yes. Thanks, Bugs.
We bring up race because Obama did it first.
We bring up his wife because she is making socialist demands as well.
But as Bugs says, the key reason Republicans do not want Obama is because he wants to turn America into a socialist state.

In which context though?
There is no excuse for the racist twaddle about blacks being stupid criminals and al.

^ Like that Commie Bill Clinton, who presided over the longest economic expansion in US history and left the US government in surplus, the USD a real store of value?

Thank goodness the Republicans came along to redress the balance.

I don't think there is much difference between Dems and Reps anymore. Both seem quite happy to tax and over spend. At one time the Dems did spend more on social programs. If you look at congressional spending bills across the board in the last few years not much difference between the parties. Both seem inclined to cater to special interest lobbyists. Hillary won't change it, nor will McCain. Maybe no one can fix a congress as messed up as we have but Obama may be the only one I at least see some hope of making progress.

actually, for the last 7 years the republicans have borrowed and over spent. of course the super rich got significant tax cuts while most americans only got a few hundred bucks. but the insane spending that went on during the two bush terms was 'put on the credit card'.

it's also worth noting that they're borrowing from 'red' china, and have spent more than any democrat ever thought possible.

in a few decades it will be interesting to look back and see if the GWB years destroyed the republican party.

To some extent I agree but let's not forget the Dems have the majority in congress so have to take responsibility as well. The Dems were voted in to address many of the things you mention but have failed miserably. Personally I am very disappointed and polls indicate so are the rest of Americans.

I guess that there are very few anymore who actually know how the US govt. works and who keeps things in check.
The Prez can do nothing without the blessings of congress, he can not spend a dime nor do anything else, even if he uses the narrow ways for him to do something and does it, it can soon be rescinded by congress.
